Danwei showcases old plans and blueprints for Beijing that were never used, often including the preservation of the old city and Medieval walls, the destruction of which in the 1950s by Mao is often seen as one of the worst cultural crimes in modern China, along with the destruction of statues and artifacts during the Cultural Revolution.
A rather poignant reminder of Beijing's rich history. I hope that at least what's left will be preserved.
