One in four Britons don't believe wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill existed, according to a recent survey.

Churchill is compared to Florence Nightingale and Sir Walter Raleigh, seen by many survey respondents as a mythical person, the London Daily Mail reported Monday.

The survey, conducted with 3,000 respondents to test their general knowledge, reported other historical figures such as Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi, Cleopatra and the Duke of Wellington were made up for books and films, the Mail reported.

The survey, by UKTV Gold, also found that Sherlock Holmes was a real person.

Young Britons under 20 lack a basic historical education according to the survey results, historian Correlli Barnett told the Daily Mail.

"This suggests a complete lack of common sense and respect for our greatest heroes of the past," Barnett said.\

When I read this article, I seriously was reminded of the many arguments I have had on CURRENT in the last three months. With biased people who claim to be more educated than I, yet ignorance just pours from their mouths like Guinness from an Irish pub. Arguments where people think that we didn't land on the MOON in 1969. I happened to be at my uncles house on that day, he worked at NASA at the time, trust me, we landed on the moon. Arguments that our President was behind 911, object, to gain power. Now,... why would the most powerful man in the world want more power? There is so much more stupid stuff, but I don't want to waste the space. I am disenchanted with this corrupt haven of Liberal Thinking. Now that's an OXYMORON.

      Don't despise you, the messenger; despise the hypocrisy of the message.

      Of course you're just like the rest of the people you're complaining about. The difference here is that they're not devoting submissions to whine about other people.

      Finally, yes, you do prove yourself wrong with your own words. Maybe not the same sentence, but close enough. When you finish your rant with, "Liberal thinking now that's an oxymoron", you imply that there is a problem with liberal thinking, which is a product of... Liberalism. I haven't added a single thing that you haven't said. You need to realize that if your message is being misconstrued, maybe it's because of the way in which it was written. You spend a significant amount of time with your 'article' complaining about stupidty and bias, and yet display both yourself.

      As I said previously, and as Ghandi put it best:

      "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

      In other words, if you don't like it, don't waste your time or everyone elses with BS posts like this. Just stop going to the site, or at least, stop participating in what you feel is so stupid.

      The point of the post is that Britons kids as well as American kids aren't learning history. I bitched at the end this is true, but it wasn't meant to be the focal point of the post. But if you want to trap bee's use honey as bait. I am not going anywhere BTW, You might not like what I have to say, but a lot of people do or my achievements wouldn't be happening so fast. And trust me they are, if you don't like my posts or a particular post than it is very simple DON'T PARTICIPATE. But don't try and censor me, that is just another symptom of the behavior I bitched about. In other words you KEEP PROVING ME TO BE RIGHT!!!! Thanks BTW.

      Your achievements aren't based on other people. They're based on how often you post.

      It's true. Look it up on the site. You gain levels based on how often you interact with the site.

      Further, note here that I was responding to your comment about other people. Granted, it was at the end, but no less pointed at a specific group of people, of which you are a part. All I'm saying is, instead of bitching about it, why not be productive and not participate if you feel that things aren't to your liking. Do it or don't.

      You mean like the original poster? I never said, "You need to shut up and leave current.com". I suggested that if it's bad enough to make a stupid comment like "I am disenchanted with this corrupt haven of Liberal Thinking. Now that's an OXYMORON", why bother in the first place?

      Maybe you should direct your rebuke at the original poster, who has done exactly what you yourself have now felt the need to take issue with me about. I don't like it, but I took the liberty of replying to something I felt needed a response.

      Again kids, make sure you really read before responding. Let me make it perfectly clear:

      Instead of taking the time to make a post like this, specifically directed at your own peer group without recognizing it (in the post itself), if it's so bad as to warrant said response, make it easier on yourself and go.

      If you want to stay and continue to contribute to the exact thing you're railing against here, then maybe you should stop bitching about it and focus on making solid, well delivered, unbiased points to foil those people you take issue with.

      Read it slower and maybe you will comprehend the meaning. The word Liberal was used to describe the site in the last sentence. The bulk of the article has nothing to do with Liberals. It has to do with our society not being as smart as it used to be, and people actually thinking their smarter.

      The slight was against the site being biased toward Liberals and their way of thinking. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a Liberal, or thinking Liberal. The fault is thinking that everyone else who disagrees is an ignorant redneck, or crazy Christian, or inbreed, or White Trash etc. These are just a FEW of the choice words That I have been DIRECTLY called on this site. And I am none of these. I actually agree with most Liberals ideas, but If I disagree with one I am attacked like everything I say is worthless. It is not the way people are supposed to treat other people. I have drastically changed my behavior, is it outlandish to expect any one else to change ?Maybe just a little?
