This film is without commentary - Prague - In Letna park, Prague, there is a monument to time. A 30m metronome marks the spot where once Stalin stood in a Napoleonic pose looking down over the city and its people. Dubbed the 'meat queue' by locals, as Stalin was flanked by a row of the 'people' behind him, the monument was destroyed when the communist regime denounced Stalin after his death. Today the site has become a mecca for local skaters. During this time and tradition of throwing your shoes into the power line of the metronome has become something of a monument in its own right. I call this 'Stalin's shoes'.
Ironically the metronome is supposed to represent the movement of time and that time does not stand still. Although the local authorities turn the power off during the winter months when the tourists have all gone home.
