Germans,.....Literate Germans,....what to do ?
The project:
The project aims to make the volumes 1 (1896) to 49 (1945), the satirical magazine Simplicissimus as a contingent source available. To allow the user to not only an interest in history "unorganized" reading, but also enable the targeted access to specific subject areas, the project has made the content development of the overall population for the task. Therefore all the persons mentioned, places were and institutions, historically significant events, and also gathered in a reasonable scope, thematic keywords in a thesaurus term. This database is about to turn of 2007/08 on the Internet to be available. It must be noted, however, that the last years are still to be understood as a work in progress.
The specificity of satirical review lies in the fact that "what is meant" rarely simply exposed and is mentioned by name, but described or encrypted, or only comes indirectly by allusion to the language or the picture. To capture these nominations, must, when indexing "implicit" Entries are made explicit. This procedure leaves the really positivistic development, as is usually customary and reasonable. It must be stressed that consequently flows also a hermeneutic power of the processor in the indexing and so this can not be free of value judgments.
The tagging also has the potential in themselves, the key words as a comment to use, that is, for example, the name assignment to identify a marked physiognomy or the subjects on a keywords in the first access abstruse allusion to read for information. This actually requires that all references identified and their resolution are correct. Whether and to what extent the project such a claim is sufficient, will have to prove themselves. In any event, the editorial asks, in the case of a necessary correction or addition of a meaningful contact - the agents are in any case, such evidence grateful for and response to say soon.
The project has no commercial interests, however, for any such future date planned. Copyright laws were respected to the best knowledge and belief. If an involuntary violation of such rights be undermined, the project leaders ask to be notified - the appropriate charges will be masked immediately.
