Virgin fire 13 after staff insult passengers on Facebook

hahahaha...just like the police officers who bragged about crashing police cars on their facebook group....oh no, wait, they didn't get fired...above the law?

well, some of the planes are old bangers and they probably do have cockroaches. i imagine that there is easily a jet whose engine has been replaced three times. maybe richard branson should stop trying to buy up every company on the planet and concentrate on taking care of the ones he's got.

As hard as I try I can not set my brain to follow a thought pattern that causes a person to vote for ultra rich people who become politicians to get richer.

I can not understand why someone who hardly has any real wealth would continue to support rich corporations, businessmen and politicians who are known to lie steal and cheat in every since of the word. These are ruthless people who will step on the average man who gets into their way.

I will never understand the mindset of people who would hate those people who would want the best for everyone and praise those who could care less about other people.

Some people have been brainwashed to believe that liberalism, socialism and leftist thinking people are evil. That is the farthest thinking from the truth, because no one cares more about his fellow man than liberals, socialists, and leftist.

On the other hand those who have been conditioned to believe that the so-called right is "right" are the most confused, ignorant, conceited, selfish, hateful, disturbed individuals I have ever read or listened to, and to make matters even more confusing, these people can even call themselves Christians and such.

What kind of sick joke are they playing over and over in their sick minds? What kind of misinformation are they repeating to themselves every single day?

The bottom line is this, I pay taxes and I want my taxes to help and educate the people of this country not pay for wars that kill and tend to make the rich and their cronies wealthier. I want all people to live healthy happy lives, not suffer in poverty, pain, and depression.

That is why I would be considered a socialist or leftist, or whatever the new word is that the "right" wants to label as a dirty word.

I see the right wing, republican groupies, Christian fundamentalists as crazy, confused, hateful, and in most cases very racist people who don't want to see others do well even if it means you won't do well yourselves because of it. Shame on you who have nearly mastered the art of disinformation, misinformation, reverse-misinformation, reverse-reverse discrimination, actual confusion lying, and a mentally weak picture of your reality. Sorry!

I keep asking myself how can people be so cruel? How can they think the horrible thoughts they think and actually believe they are right? The only answer I keep coming up with is that these are individuals with very weak minds, very weak, easy to manipulate and easy to brainwash.

It is because of these feeble minded people that we will never be a truly United Country, but of course that would not matter to the filthy rich, because to the filthy rich the average person is nothing more than a dumb stupid slave that is easily trained like a monkey to serve and praise those in fame and fortune and look down on those who have less than themselves.

I have listened to the dribbles of the people who are senseless and blinded by misinformation and poor education among other handicaps, and I have seen the state of the Union, and I can safely say, It will take more than a good intentioned person such as Obama to fix this mess we call a country, a country built on the blood of others and composed of the blood sucking upper-crust and their bone picking lackeys.

Again drive it like ya stole it.

This is disgusting. If it's alright to do this, is it alright to fire your workers if they bad-mouth you in a restaurant or in your own home? Legally speaking, it really isn't any different except that a lot more people have access to your statement on the internet. I hope a precedent is set up to prevent things like this.

This is why I hate Libertarians, because according to them businesses should have the right to do this and far beyond.

There can be NO freedom of speech when you work as a slave to the "man". He makes you swear allegiance and sign documents preventing you from speaking the truth.

Management must be lacking if so many are going behind the companies' back to dis them. Board of directors and stockholders need to investigate. I mean come on, 13 staffers were fired? How many more who weren't fired will eventually come forward? My guess is quite a few. The airlines are in trouble...this is only a symptom of a much larger problem.

This sounds like another freedom of speech case, and if virgin is failing in that way someone must speak out in every way possible. If they fear losing their jobs that says something about our so called freedoms.

SOMETIMES THE TRUTH HURTS. MAYBE THESE CREW MEMBERS HAVE SAVED SOME LIVES FROM BEING LOST. I'D SUE!!!

Did you read the Story? They are talking about Safety. Forget the insults. I'm part of the one's that think Plane's are less safe when it comes to Airlines going to bankruptcy and High Oil prices.

This incident speaks to the necessity, or at least value, of an internet pseudonym.

this makes me lose all respect for Virgin. rubberrims hit the nail on the head. this may not have been the smartest way to complain about your employer, but firing the whistleblowing employees doesn't fix the airlines problems, it only continues to try to hide them. this is the same thing as sarah palin saying she doesn't care what causes global warming. she'd rather just deny that it exists, and ignore anyone with a contrary view (or proof). this just goes to show that Virgin doesn't care about their customers OR their employees - they only care about their own image.
i really thought Virgin was better than this. i guess not. i hope the cockroaches run them out of business. infuriating.

Firing them was a great decision. I'd be terrified if the crew were saying a plane I was on had cockroaches!

I demand the management meeting minutes be release and scrutinized the same way. I have always believed that asking the staffers what they really think about their employers' business rather than some dull review on the company websites, is the best way to get accurate HONEST info. 'Virgin' isn't so virginal, is it..

This is a classic!!! I take my hat off to the good doers or should I say idiots who splurged out on Facebook. Now on the other hand why had they been sacked? See the bit about cockroaches, I would be concerned if a Plane was so dirty that an infestation would have been allowed?
As for the engine well they just deteriorate, no issue here I think. Kind of makes you think whose behaviour is actually at fault. Nice article, VIRGIN should be investigating their management team ask them, "why do staff have such a negative opinion about the company which happens to pays their wages"!
