He also said that economic growth is possible for the second half of 2008 and into 2009. He said the Bush Administration’s stimulus package should help spur economic growth.
The Federal Reserve has been cutting key interest rates sharply in the past months down to 2.25 percent and some economists speculate that this rate could go down further.

"U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke could learn a couple of things from Hyrule's math whizzes, who have kept the region's inflation rate at an astounding 0.00 percent for over 20 years. "

I was just chatting with the ghosts of Woody Guthrie, "Leadbelly" and John Steinbeck's "Tom Joad" about this issue. We all agreed that, if we don't turn this "bulldozer" around, we'll all be forced to share our goods or die trying not to.

There is power in chaos, and they ( our goverment, corp. leaders) have us right where they want us. We need to be more involved and make goverment for the PEOPLE of the USA, not the corporatations and the politicians. I do not know who to trust any more.

I can't understand we "might be in a recession" WTF is might be, why isn’t anyone just coming out with it. WE ARE IN ONE PEOPLE! I can't say that I understand this whole financial talk and political talk, but I am smart enough to see a "truck" coming at me! Everyday on the news we hear, people loosing their jobs, unemployment up, I see stores closing, and people pinching for pennies (I being one of them as well). I also see the malls becoming ghost towns almost. I will tell you this, when I go to the supermarket I have noticed a serious change with people’s shopping behavior. The check out lines would be long and carts would be filled with items. I now see people with little stuff in their carts and constantly looking for what’s on sale and etc. You know what this reminds me of, when I was in France sitting in front of a supermarket watching people buying and checking out. I did not see ONE person with a full cart and more often then not, they would look at the receipt. Sounds familiar.

If The Bear had been allowed to go bankrupt, the fat cats at the top would have had to pay back millions in bonuses, which the bailout neatly avoided. Thanks again Benny!

I think Bernanke is full of shizzy to be quite honest. This country is in a horrible trend of spending, spending, spending and not caring, caring, caring about the consequences. Get it together, stop spending and figure out a way to turn this tragic economy around. We want a real resolution not a temporary one.

The Divine law does not allow a man to charge interest. If money is loaned, it is a charitable loan to help someone in their misfortune or poverty (you didn't charge them interest and if they couldn't pay you back then they had to give you possessions equal to what they owed and if they had no possessions, they were to work for you to pay if off unless a relative of theirs paid the loan back.)
Charging interest is the system of Babylon. It exploits another’s misfortune.
In the Kingdom of God, the Divine law will be the law of the land and interest will not be charged. If you can't afford to buy something, you do without unless someone is willing to lend you the money without interest.

The Federal Reserve is a joke! It is neither FEDERAL or a RESERVE! They are a privately owned corporation! They are a huge racket, an elaborate ruse devised to profit off of our losses. The FED helped run this country into the ground and now we have to pay for THEIR incompetence! The value of our money has been severely deflated due to the policies that this so-called "government institution" have instigated and I cannot believe it is happening. But it's getting too hard not to believe that the FED has been machinating against the people of America since its inception in 1913.

The economic stimulus package is a cruel joke perpetrated on the US citizens. What is $300 really going to do, pay one month of electricity bill or one month of gasoline? Now if they handed out checks for 10 times that much to each person, that would be real stimulating.

I like to think I'm a well educated and informed citizen and I take great pains to stay on top of things. I try to understand business and politics and the social sector as well as how they all interrelate. Clearly the economy is a primary factor in all every sector's growth or decline, so it makes sense to try to understand it.
That said, I simply feel like nothing makes sense when I read about what's going on with the US economy. Somehow or another, the President decides he can just refund money to every American; "reinvigorating" the economy to the tune of $150Bn (which of course most predict won't work) and then the Federal reserve can just drum up $200Bn whenever it wants as well to do.
The above equation from resolute: deficit spending + deficit spending + deficit spending etc = economic implosion is what my gut honestly tells me, but then the other part of me wants to believe that I simply don't know enough about our economy and its ridiculous complexity to have a trustworthy gut feeling in the first place.
Perhaps the latter is just my idealistic wishful thinking.
