Warning of terror plot against NYC subway

Image

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have "plausible but unsubstantiated" claims that al-Qaeda terrorists have considered attacking the New York City transit system.

The United States isn't changing it's threat level, but according to a spokesman from the Department of Homeland Security "transit passengers in larger metropolitan areas like New York may see an increased security presence in the coming days. This includes uniformed and plain clothed behavior detection officers, federal air marshals, canine teams, and security inspectors."

    • After what just happened in India, I can't believe how glib and obsurd and down right preposterous you people are.

Information would not be released to the public if it were not serious.
Anyone who has worked with sensitive material in the government or other knows that. Release as little info as possible, and make it seem as safe as possible because panic is dangerous. I hope you understand the entire scope of that statement.

I cannot believe the ludicrous posts here.

    • behavior detection officers? sounds like its time to kiss our civil liberties & rights to privacy goodbye. its interesting how easily fear can take hold even among allegedly sophisticated big city folk.

this seems like a great opportunity to remember my favorite quote from a slave owner, mr. ben franklin:
"Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither."
let's take it a step further:
"People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both."

try to keep these ideas in mind when pundits & shortsighted commentators attempt to convince you that your freedoms are inhibitions to your safety. if anyone is genuinely interested in stopping the tactic of terrorism the best solution would be to end the hopeless conditions that lead groups & individuals to taking violent vigilante actions.

who's taking violent vigilante actions?! and behavior detection officers are there to spot what you cant because your moving too fast to notice, its for our safety. Their not slamming you against a wall and giving you a cavity check because of your race.

just, let the people who keep us safe keep us safe. their not infringing on rights yet.

    • It's interesting that you ask if it was on Fox! I think that there's always a threat of an attack from any nation or even a guerrila group that isn't on the radar yet. You can't just say it's from the Middle East whenever there's a threat against peace on the homefront. There have been plenty of triple-homicides in neighborhoods all over the states simply between American citizens.

    • Here we go again , now we have to give more of our civil rights so the goverment can give us more proteccion against alqaeda but what about the real criminals who own the streets.
Is the goverment really doing their job or what?.

    • The international pseudo-militant religulous fear-mongering circus continues.

Christ, can we just stop beating around the bush and get the whole Rapture thing over with already?

I could care less if I live or die as long as it is quick and painless. On the other hand, it annoys the living f*ck out of me to be alive and constantly bombarded by stupidity, bad news, and ridiculous plots to control and or scare the human sheep that, ironically, I am annoyed out of my mind with b/c they are so stupid in the first place.

It is literally like psychological torture living in this day and age where technology can communicate so many facts and truths so easily, but instead it is used to force fabricated nonsense from religion to politics into the minds of innocent onlookers who don't quite have the depth of intellect to see above and through it.

What is the purpose of Al Queda? To spark a religious war? How about an anti-jihad jihad instead? What if I said God said he told me to tell you to end all forms of religious belief, right here, right now?

Could I then at least turn on my friggin magic nonsense box or magic logic box and not have to be pseudo-threatened by imaginary fabrications of one form or another?

      Are people really this dumb?

What is the point of making threats without stating some clear desire behind it?

Hypothetically, everyone decides not to use the f*cking subway on Thanksgiving...does that mean you won?

Won what? Wasting a whole lot of time and money and resources on absolutely nothing of value?

God forbid that could have been used to redesign the entire world structure to a less-retarded version instead.

    • The scariest part is that people still lop this shit up.

Ahh the gullible news-addicted public. Amazing how many sheep there are still cowering in the corners of America.

    • The biggest danger would be from sabotaged tracks, tunnels & bridges, not people getting on with passengers...Chemical & Bio-war are the scariest prospects...Sorry, I've been reading Tom Clancy recently...

    • i can't imagine nyers, myself being one, letting this stop the use of the subway.
and for all of you saying "i hate the terrorists," please just realize that you have to hate much of your own government as well. What you should be saying is "i hate radicals." Well, not even that. You should feel sorry for radicals.

    • I remember how the transit strike practically shut down the city three years ago. Public transportation--- especially the subway system--- is crucial to New York City's functionality.

Hopefully publicizing this information will encourage transit users to keep their eyes open for extra suspicious activity.
