    • Whats useful for me is knowing the system; the physical layout of course, but also the cost/benefits. For example - a way to calculate the cost of driving vs. riding, the time it takes, environmental impact, and convenience.

    • When I lived in Berlin, I rode my bike probably 5 days a week, going everywhere - shopping, working, visiting friends - but now in Seattle I don't do it that much, partially because the steep hills in West Seattle make it very hard, but also because the way many motorists are not used to dealing with bicycles is a little scary. I mean, there are people who leave room for a bicycle's slightly swaying movement, but unfortunately, there are a lot who don't, just because they don't understand the necessity of it. That means, I'd bike more if more people biked - sounds weird, I know.
