Nikon S60 VCAM: What Do You Photograph?

Tonky
Greetings CURRENT Viewers,

If you like this, check out my website
www.TonkyDesigns.com

There is a blog with lots of riveting pop-culture commentary and also a store with wall stickers, t-shirts, and jewelry.

For this Nikon S60 VCAM I've woven together some of the earliest images captured on film, a little custom animation, and a friendly banjo & fiddle rendition of "Turkey in the Straw."

Unfortunately, it was not selected as a VCAM finalist (I'd like to know what the fools in Nikon's Marketing Dept. were thinking with the winners) But the production process was enriching and we received a lot of great feedback.

enjoy,

Tonky

    • THIS IS AMAZING! This video really shows how important it is to capture moments and history on film.
Out of the two short ads, this is my top choice. I'm still kind of amazed that a baboon can play the fiddle, but unless the moment/concept had been documented, who else would have known?

    • The artist did a great job creating a video that captures old time footage while at the same time evoking state-of-the-art imagery

    • Diggin' the video. There is something to be said for that midwestern sensibility that comes out in the music and the file footage - seems like a celebration of all things American. Good work, man.

    • I like this one. All of the olde-tyme folks sure make me want to get out there with my new nikon... Really I'm just a sucker for an ape who plays the fiddle.

    • Seriously, if some scientists held my eyelids open-Clockwork orange style-and I had to watch that zippy old timey stuff for like a month, I'd probably be okay with it.

    • Soundtrack and image weave together well, and there is a strident and persistent enjoyment to be had as the product is placed. Count it!

    • This is about 3423840234 times more clever, catchy and compelling than those annoying Ashton Kutcher ads. Spot on! Cameras have a much more interesting roll in capturing historical imagery than Hollywood douche-baggery - a lot of consumers (such as myself) appreciate a fresh, smart sales pitch.

    • hands down the best i've seen thus far. the historic footage is classic, comedic, concise. pairing this element with the Nikon S60 VCAM is smart and creates a really interesting antithetical quality. the professional editing, the catchy music choice, the overall effect is very sophisticated. bravo!

    • Dang, This gives me Deja Vu for some reason.

A cool little short that works on its own, but actually makes sense as a Nikon spot.

Think about it, old images with newest camera. Part of a tradition.

      three thumbs ups.

    • Really like the juxtaposition of the old grainy footage with the "6 mouthwatering colors." Makes you think about the evolution of capturing images (on film or digitally).

    • This is the best one, by far. Great juxtaposition between then and now! Plus, it reminds you that there is something to smile about no matter how bad the economy is.

    • best choice!!! just how happy can this video get- from the violin playing monkey to the dancing man playing the banjo - truly innovative and motivational! this is truly an amazing short clip that emphasizes the historical importance of photography and film! this is certainly my top choice - black and white film brings an incredible amount of joy to my heart, and frankly all of the movie frames were filled with happy moments - and some are just so funny like the horse climbin' the elephant. I love it and i am now on my way to get my own nikon cam. besides, how can one not fall in love with such an incredible black/white film? I love it!!!

    • THIS IS SO FASCINATING. It made me think about the importance of the camera for capturing history! It makes me want to take more current pictures, definitely. The editing and technical work of this ad is masterful -- like a professional.
