Check out the Photophone, an interactive electronic musical instrument to be installed along the exterior stairway of 55 Washington St. in dumbo. The instrument allows viewers to control pitch and intensity through a series of light sensors and switches, and to "place" sound along a 20-foot run of speakers. Pictured is the prototype user interface!

    • "The Photophone was invented jointly by Alexander Graham Bell and his assistant Sarah Orr on February 19, 1880. Bell believed the photophone was his most important invention. The device allowed for the transmission of sound on a beam of light."
