A 70-tonne adult fin whale, the second biggest species in the world, was found wedged against the bow of a cruise ship when it docked in Vancouver after passing through Alaskan waters.
Now an autopsy will be carried out to determine if the whale was dead or alive when it became wedged in the ship.
The ship's crew doesn't know when or how the collision took place. The cruise line said in a statement: 'It is unknown how or when this could have happened, as we have strict whale avoidance procedures in place when our ships are in the vicinity of marine life. We have clear guidelines for our ships on how to operate if whales are sighted nearby, which include altering course and reducing speed as required.'

OMG the whale never stood a chance if it was alive! Would whales surf the bow wave like dolphins?
