3-D puzzle of Earth spins on beach with water lapping in the
background. Two hands begin methodically and with great pace to dismantle
the globe, piece by piece, chunk by chunk. The Earth has come undone and
its pieces are strewn about the sand. The pieces then begin to move to
either side. Close-up of skull gradually showing through the shifting sand where earth was destroyed. No longer is the lapping shoreline visible, just the skull in what could now be perceived as a desert. Cut to black. End tag: Now What?
The Message: Destroying our earth will eventually destroy us. It is
a direct relationship. It seems difficult for the general public at this time to understand the correlation between our environment and human survival. Maybe this less than subtle spot will help get the message across.
This project was done with a series of over two thousand consecutive camera
shots using an Olympus E-300, giving it a stop motion effect.
