Police, National Guard using extreme violence against anti-RNC protestors

antifa
Attempting to exercise their constitutional rights at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis/St. Paul, protesters are being met with extreme force and repression by various agents of the State.

Independent media and witnesses on the ground report the use of rubber bullets and massive amounts of tear gas and pepper spray being used to control demonstrators. Mounted police are reportedly stampeding over crowds of people with their horses, causing many injuries.

Lawyers are not being allowed into the jails, and people are being denied needed medical attention and water by a local hospital. City spokespeople have said both facilities are on temporary lockdown because of the protests taking place.

    • I wonder why? Let's see? Maybe it was because...

Protesters attacked members of the Connecticut delegation when they got off their buses near the Xcel Center,

They tried to rip the credentials off their necks and sprayed them with a toxic substance that burned their eyes and stained their clothes, one delegate Rob Simmons told KMSP-TV.

One 80-year-old member of the delegation had to be treated for injuries, and several other delegates had to rinse their eyes and clothing, the station reported.

Demonstrators also smashed windows, slashed car tires and threw bottles during the anti-war march, St. Paul police said.

Let's be sure and tell both sides of the story people.

You are so right, like OMG!!!!

And I'm like so glad you posted the same thing twice on like two different threads!! It's like so much easier to understand when it gets fed to us like talking points!!

Like, could you tell me now, are you going to post the same thing again on another thread linking to like a story about civilian demonstrations at the RNC, like we would love that consistency here at Current!! Like keep it up!!

I posted on three threads because Current had three threads on their homepage all saying basically the exact same thing. Why current has to post multiple stories on the homepage, basically saying the same thing, I don't know? Each thread deserved the same response. Someone might only read one and therefore I felt it was important to cover them all. Important, because at the time of my postings there wasn't one mention of what deviant actions some of the protesters were engaging in.

Do I agree with police brutality? No. Do I believe in journalists getting arrested? No. Do I think the police handle all of these protests perfectly? No. But I also believe in calling out idiots who are inciting violence and attacking delegation members. I just wanted to call out these actions, so that readers can at least know both sides of the story and make up their own mind. I didn't need to call out the police brutality because every post had already covered that. And for the record I feel protesters have every right to protest. They could however do it without throwing acid in the face of 80 year old delegates.

So there is your answer. If you feel you have to address me as a child then fine, but I would hope we could discuss issues without trying to provoke each other.

    • Apparently some of that happened at the DNC, the difference seems to be that the police began some of it even before the RNC started.

Maybe too many of them had seen "Minority Report" and wanted to follow the plot by getting a jump on the protesters

    • Are we truly surprised? The current GOP administration has shown no regard for decency when it comes to their opponents, domestic and otherwise. This is simply a symptom of the policies and practices of a group of people that have lost touch with the moral values the claim to cherish so dearly. This travesty upon the American people and the global community cannot end soon enough.
