25 years after the original doll came out in 1983 (see video below showing the Cabbage Patch frenzy), Cabbage Patch Dolls are again making a big splash with an election tie in via Ebay. An Ebay charity auction will offer one-of-a-kind Cabbage Patch versions of presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain and vice-presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. The auction begins on Thursday and goes right until Election Day with 100% of the proceeds going to Marine Toys For Tots. The dolls were creepy back then and I always thought those Cabbage Patch Kids should all be on the Atkins diet or on the Cabbage Patch treadmill or something.     • I remember I used to have a Cabbage Patch doll...I had two I believe. A white one and a black one. I never imagined one looking just like me, but that would be something interesting to talk about. With these presidential candidate dolls...I think its funny that things would go this far. I am glad that proceeds are going to a good cause though. If I had the money, I would buy one too. They all look extremely close to the candidates.
