The annual eight-day event known as Burning Man, where tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert sold over 27,000 tickets in 2011. Attendance was capped at 50,000 but actual numbers peaked at 54,000 and for the first time in its 25 year history the event sold-out prior to opening day.
