    • I had not heard that about John Adams. I do agree people need to understand what makes a marriage strong. Many think it only takes money.

I have been married for 37 years and would not change a thing. The good and bad, make it stronger. It's not easy getting married at 17. Many said it wouldn't last. I think we have proven them wrong. Love, compassion and care for one another makes it possible.

    • Good list.

      But they forgot John Adams.

Why do I say that? Because John Adams created Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.....not only that unlike Ben and Tom, John was faithful to his wife all the way to death. They were hibitual letter writers and the letters they wrote to one another were full of passion and intrigue and so much love and understanding that their marriage is a strong one and should be studied for those to understand what marriage should be like.

John left, though, a little to be desired with how he raised his kids. He could have been a better father. He was a good father, but there were some things he did that just didn't add up...like not forgiving his son or having some sort of understanding towards him.

John Adams is insperational for a lot of reasons other than his MASSIVE help in the American Revolution (which is almost totally ignored in history classes).

    • Thanks for the link. I would love to write. I even had a title, "Conn-igital", "Pictures In My Mind". I started with my childhood, writing down all the different people who had touched my life.

Legal pad in hand, I started writing down all the many people, places and even animals I could remember. The list grew and grew, then alas I did not follow through.

Our local library has a writing assistant CD. I have rented it 3, or 4 times and have yet to put it in my computer. Some day I'm gonna do it, even if it's only for my children and grandchildren. I would love to be able to read a book listing the many people my mother valued. Unfortunately, she died last year and it's too late to read her writings. But, she would be a main character in my "Conn-igital".

With the help of Hospice of the Western Reserve, I was able to walk my mom and dad into heaven. I would love to write something for those who still face the end of life for their parents. My experience with 'saying goodby' to my parents is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Once again, thanks for the link. You may have motivated me.
