Lonely hearts online connecting with friends on social networking sites such as Facebook have often seen and clicked on banner ads with a message suggesting that site visitors have a secret crush with an enticement to learn the identity. Seattle-based Tatto Media, Inc. -- whose MyLuvCrush subsidiary is responsible for the campaign -- lured site visitors into signing up for a $10 monthly charge for a monthly text horoscope service and to perpetuate an unfulfilled promise to reveal the secret crush. The State of Washington in court today announced that the scam has been stopped, and Tatto Media has agreed to remove its ads from Facebook, Reunion.com, and other social networking sites, and to reimburse the state $20,262 in attorney fees and costs.
