Why GLBT should pray homosexuality is not genetic.

So, an idea came to me while I was reading a post recently that asked its readers "Why be gay?" People seemed upset at this question, claiming that it was not a choice, god made them this way, and it was genetic. Granted, this is my opinion too, I began to think.
If being gay is genetic, how long is it until some close-minded hetero scientist finds a cure for homosexuality? What can we do if there is some shot pregnant women take to insure that little jimmy never likes little tommy? Is that going to be labeled as "moral"?

    • Being gay is not genetic in and of itself...its not just that simple. It is a complicated array of psychological, sexual, social, physiological, genetic, sociological, neurological, etc. etc. factors that together determine someones sexual orientation. Its as unique as a fingerprint. Its not a formula.

    • also if it is genetic, i would guess that it is like skin color or height where there isn't just one gene but a number of genes that play a factor. that would account for why there are no defined sexual orientations but more of a range

    • ok so what if it IS genetic? all of that praying isn't going to get you anywhere.

we should hope to build a better more inclusive society so that things like that don't happen.

do you believe we should live in fear of science?

btw is that really your name? cause that's my name! lol

I do not live in fear of science, just politicians who think they can rule the world. I don't think anyone can say for sure that it is, or is not, genetic, at least not yet. I am just horrified at the idea it would become considered acceptable to take some pre-natal shot insuring little Billy likes Cindy, and not Jimmy.

And yeah, it's my real name haha.

    • You do raise a good question, however how would you test for the gene in the womb, that and gene therapy can be dangerous at the best of times so why would one want to subject their baby to that? Also would that not be a choice to be made by the individual later in life? Also it would no longer be considered bad or worng if it could be scientificly proven to be genetic.
