AP: Palestinians were firing mortars near UN School

According to the Associated Press, two Palestinian residents said "they saw a small group of militants firing mortar rounds from a street near the school, where 350 people had gathered to get away from the shelling. They spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal."

Israel's military said its shelling was a response to mortar fire from within the school and said militants were using civilians as cover.

    • It is an unfortunate name.

It immediately causes many to question "whirled peas" commitment to objectivity. Both sides of any conflict want peace. They just want it on their terms.

    • WorldPeaceTV is part of the Current Anti-Israel Mafia

As a smart man once said, many anti-War /peace types are just rooting for the other side ---

don't buy phony and grandiose titles like "World Peace"

    • After having my question ignored about how your stories could reach the front page with less than twenty views, and now datamined has been blocked for two weeks I can't believe anything that comes from your posts. This is Not a Personal attack against you.

I just believe that this site is biased and non-objectively choosing which submitters are best for their TV demographic. Therefore every story that is submitted is under question.

Any media that chooses to shape the news based on their monetary needs is a curse of the free press in a Capitalistic society. There needs to be a revolution against those who would sell what amounts to innocent lives to make the almighty advertising dollar. Flee from these prostitutes as from the plague. At least the plague would be a comparatively quick death compared to having your self-determinacy taken from you an opinion at a time in a "so called" free society.

It doesn't matter your politics or religion, if this site is dictating who can be heard and who can't then Free Speech is not allowed here. This is not America, move on..............

I should have known they were in trouble after seeing so many advertisements for the Zune.

This whole current site is so biased. Might as well be a bunch of sociology professors in an indie coffee shop, pretending to be profound while sipping their lates. I can pretty much guarantee that Che Guevara t-shirts and CCCP zip ups are a staple in all of their wardrobes.

    • hamas could choose to separate themselves from the civilians in gaza that they say they are protecting, but instead they are using them as a shield.

the idf could definitely handle this situation with more care and consideration, but when you are fighting an enemy you cannot see, what are you supposed to do? sit there and take the rockets they fire at you? would everybody be happy with israel if they did nothing?

both sides are at fault for this war; too stubborn to compromise and too blind with prejudice to have sympathy for the people who suffer on the other side. but this whole mess is just giving everybody an excuse to be an anti-semite without being condemned for it, and it's making me sick.

Al Jazeera is a very respectable news source, unlike what many people might believe. But thinking that there will be no bias from Al Jazeera on the conflict in Gaza is like thinking that there will be no bias from Univision if a similar conflict was occuring in Latin America...

Your the first person I've ever heard accuse the AP of being biased. Are you implying that the report was a lie? Or that it was made up?

That's something you might expect from Fox News, but not from the AP.

"The Associated Press (AP) is an American news agency. The AP is a cooperative owned by its contributing newspapers, radio and television stations in the United States." Quoted from wikipedia

Since all media in the United States is owned by 7 corporations which in turn are controlled by 7 individuals, who definitely put a biased twist on what is reported, then yes, I do believe the AP is biased towards the American/israeli viewpoint. And you can't have real knowledge of any situation without all info available.

hamas are using civilians as shields just the same as the taliban did in afganastan with us
please tell us how you remove terrorists without hurting civilians?
also isreal at least tries to avoid civilian casualties while hamas prides themselves on it?
do you give any moral credibility to them?

    • If I were to start screaming at the top of my lungs on the sidewalk in front of your house, would it be okay if the city gave you a ticket for violating a noise ordinance, saying that I was screaming in your home? Is there a difference between where you live and the street in front of the building you live in?
If there is a building full of innocent children, YOU DO NOT BOMB THE SHIT OUT OF IT. Period. I don't care if its housing the next fucking Hitler, you don't send a missle into building full of children! That's basic fucking knowledge! NOBODY should have to be told that!! It undermined any, ANY higher moral ground Israel may have had.
Separately, can you show me what part of Gaza is not civilian? I have never seen a military base in Gaza nor the West Bank...

Unfortunately this isn't how it works. The enemy takes advantage of these ideas and because of this sometimes you have to do it anyway. Things like the Geneva Convention are great, and have made great changes in the way wars are fought but there are exceptions to every rule. And when you enemy starts taking advantage of your own self-imposed restrictions is one of those times.

YES, THIS IS EXACTLY HOW IT WORKS.

You never "have to do it anyway".

You really don't get it, do you?

How long has this failure mentality of yours prevailed there?

How long do yyou need to continue it before you grow the fuck up?

Yes, it is complicated. Yes, it is difficult. But doing the same shit for decades and not realizing that it doesn't work proves that if you think this way YOU ARE NOT FIT TO MAKE THE DECISIONS>

In fact, you need to take a time out.

Go to the corner and be quiet before you embarrass yourself further.

Oh, and alicynx, thank you for the thoughtful post. Good to see some one with a brain AND a heart.

You care about Israel and you think it is okay for innocent people to die in order to get the guilty ones.

      Yeah, I get it.

Great. Now please stop talking. Your mentality is the source of the killing of innocent children.

      You should be deeply ashamed.

I'm not. Read my posts. Hamas are a bunch of asshats.

      Both sides have violent jackasses.

      No side is perfect.

But Israel has gone trigger happy and it needs to stop.

That's what I have been saying.

    • here I am again!

it says in the article, and you misquoted (why am I not surprised) that the rockets were fired from near a school..not FROM a school..BIG difference my son......I know you are still young and learning, but that info was a little misconstrued to make a big change in the meaning.

Please read the article a little better and you will get a better grip on what really happens.

      Still love ya tho!
      and
      peace

      WorldPeace?

Does the Hamas charter which calls for the destruction of the state of Israel fit into your idea of world peace? How about rabid anti-semitism? I think your Che Guevara t-shirt needs to be washed because you stink.
