Racist and sexist Israeli military shirts show deranged mindset that led to war crimes in Gaza

These images only appeared on Ha'aretz's Hebrew-language website:

* A T-shirt for infantry snipers bears the inscription "Better use Durex," next to a picture of a dead Palestinian baby, with his weeping mother and a teddy bear beside him.

* A sharpshooter's T-shirt from the Givati Brigade's Shaked battalion shows a pregnant Palestinian woman with a bull's-eye superimposed on her belly, with the slogan, in English, "1 shot, 2 kills."

* After Operation Cast Lead, soldiers from that battalion printed a T-shirt depicting a vulture sexually penetrating Hamas' prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh

*Another sniper's shirt also features an Arab man in the crosshairs, and the announcement, "Everything is with the best of intentions."

*A shirt printed after Operation Cast Lead in Gaza for Battalion 890 of the Paratroops depicts a King Kong-like soldier in a city under attack. The slogan is unambiguous: "If you believe it can be fixed, then believe it can be destroyed!"

    • it doesnt represent the isrealis culture anymore than putting obamas face next to watermelon and fried chicken represents ours. every culture must suffer domestic ignorance and intolerance but to title the story"Racist and sexist Israeli military shirts show deranged mindset that led to war crimes in Gaza" serves to taint an entire people by the actions of a minority. its not like the isreali govt secretly felt this way and no its all out in the open they want peace, and to portray it any other way is to continue in the cycle that does not allow peace to occur

    • That's why I post so much anti-Zionist posts on DS, I believe Jews MUST speak out against all the atrocities perpetuated by the Israeli govt and military. Israel doesn't speak for me! The victim has become the victimizer. It's disgusting.

    • Oh yes I know, it's not a strictly Jewish thing. Remember during the DNC convention those Denver police made those shirts that said "we get up early to beat the crowds?" It's the same mentality.

I didn't know you were Jewish; not that it matters to me one way or another :)

I'll check out your site today. You've got so much info there that it's hard to keep up even for an info-junkie like me.

    • This is most disturbing.

Please note that not all Jews are in support of Israeli's govt and military actions, many of us are speaking out.

Good discussion on this topic by Gilad Atzmon in the link above.

I read your article in your site and i found it to be extraordinarily fair and unbiased.
You cant imagine how good it feels for a Muslim to hear a progressive Jewish like you to speak the truth.
      keep up the decent work

    • DandelionSalad:

Glad you liked the article, capt ayhab. Dandelion Salad isn't the author, though. It was written by Gilad Atzmon.

There is hope for the future, each one of us must choose peace in all aspects of our lives. That, of course, means not joining the military or if in the military, refusing to kill (or injure, etc). It is also means being peaceful towards one's own family and friends and neighbors. It's up to us, we can do it individually, and hopefully it will grow to include everyone, worldwide.

      Salaam!
