Picking up a bag of milk from the shop may sound strange but could become an everyday occurrence as a “revolutionary” eco-friendly milk container is introduced across the country.

Sainsbury’s is to sell milk packaged in a recycleable plastic bag across 35 of its stores from Wednesday, to try to reduce packaging waste. It will be available in 500 stores within a year.

    • Revolutionary? Pah!

We've had milk in bags back in Armenia since the Soviet times.
People also get paid for every glass bottle they bring back to recycling centres or shops; over here they want to charge people for NOT recycling. Great 'incentive' that is.

    • Yeah. Not really revolutionary. My sister had these in school when she was a kid in Wisconsin. Apparently you were supposed to stab your straw in them, which resulted in a whole bunch of kids being drenched with milk.

    • revolutionary - apart from in canada where they've been selling milk like this for years...but good it's finally come over here...

i think a way better idea would be to have a fairly decent eco friendly system in place in the UK...reusable glass bottles, delivered by electric floats...er, wait a minute...
