STOCKHOLM - The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported 28 new fatal cases of the Influenza A/H1N1 during the past 24 hours, as of November 18, 2009. The new fatalities raised Europe’s death toll from the new flu virus to 543.
Outside Europe and EFTA nations, 6,624 deaths have been reported to date.
Below is the list of the number of new fatal cases since the previous national updates:
inland – two fatal cases, bringing the country’s death toll to nine
France – 11 fatal cases, bringing the country’s death toll to 70
Germany – five fatal cases, bringing the country’s death toll to 21
Italy – five fatal cases, bringing the country’s death toll to 58
Norway – two fatal cases, bringing the country’s death toll to 21
Poland – two fatal cases, bringing the country’s death toll to four
United Kingdom - one fatal case, bringing the country’s death toll to 187
