I'm not sure I understand the comment about eating food, drinking water and occupying shelter that would/could have gone to a Haitian. My understanding has always been that these media crews are sent in with their own food, water and shelter. Certainly, the network could have sent these items in without the reporter, cameraperson, etc...but that would kind of defeat the purpose of getting the word out to the world about what is happening there. And getting that word out is, IMHO, critically important to generating not just public awareness but public support for the relief efforts. Is there some specific evidence that CNN would have sent the provisions for these half-dozen (I am guessing) people and distributed them to Haitians if AC had decided to take the week off or something? Also, is there specific evidence that CNN has not donated to the relief effort outside of their reporting efforts?

Actually, that is something I wonder about ... what are media people eating and drinking? They don't look like they are in need when they report from these areas, as well as the military there. As for this story, I just hope the boy is OK.

yeah, you're right about him eating food and occupying shelter that someone might possible need more. but then again, if reporters weren't there to document this tragedy, then how many less donations do you think would be going there?? how many more are benefiting than the one person due to his presence? what could've happened to the kid were he not there? your point is ridiculous.

Samuria i looked and looked and looked, but i couldn't find the youtube of AC acting like there was 20 feet of water, but there was evidence in the background that it was like inches. He's a freaking actor who pretends to report unbiased reports, but just like everyone at CNN and Faux news its all made up bullshit. You guys need to take the AC :::: out of your mouth and wake up.

It's not that the locals were uncivilized, nor uncaring. In general, they care about human life, especially of a young boys, as much as we do. Rather, they have been subject to a place described as 'apocalyptic' for the past few days, with an enormous amount of fear. People often tend to get a bit numb to cope. The mob mentality takes over easily.
Anderson Cooper is a hero for helping the kid. But he has the luxury of being an outsider, a person who does not need to fear for their food supply, for instance. He does not need to be so fearful as the Haitians, and is able to pay more attention to others, rather than worry about his own survival, as most the locals do.
People act differently in times of duress. Some of the uglier times during the post-Katrina days also reflect that. The environment affects the individual profoundly.
So, careful with your judgment. - 2 years ago

Those "locals" you refer to as "uncivilized" were running for their LIVES, damnit. Other people were hurt by the same individual.
I suspect you've never being in a truly terrifying situation where you can't even THINK straight from your fears and your pain.
If that's "uncivilized" behavior, I've seen it all over the world, and it's human nature... "fight or flight" is encoded in our brains, dear lady.
