Ted Cox posed as a gay man to infiltrate gay-to-straight therapy programs. What he found was equal parts shocking and tragic.

    • "They say you're not born that way, it's not genetic, but it is your choice as to whether or not you act on those feelings and attractions. " quote from article.

By their standards, maybe gay-to-straight therapists have experienced some same-sex attraction and just not decided to act on it. I mean, if they are saying it isn't genetic, and it boils down to a choice made on whether or not to act on feelings of homosexuality, perhaps they are grappling with their own notions of identity and are speaking from experience. It's sad. Maybe these "straight activists" are really trying to bury the homosexual person inside themselves, fueling this notion that "NO - ITS UP TO YOU! I did it? See? That means you can too!" Well, just because some of us like to live in denial doesn't mean the rest of us will happily kick it there too, and it definitely doesn't warrant your own attempts at personal salvation through the conversion of others into hating and disowning themselves. Just a thought ;)

    • That is incredibly heartbreaking. I read an article that said the American Psychiatric Association deemed these programs as severely harmful to the mental health of the individuals subjugated to this kind of torture.

    • What was surprising at the weekly meetings was this emphasis on falling in love with Christ. In order to overcome your attraction to men, it was to fall in love—in almost a romantic way—to the most perfect man.

This part from the article lined above is quite surprising indeed. How laughable that you would be encouraged to stop being gay by romantically falling in love with Jesus Christ.
