“Don’t Let The Facts Get In The Way Of Beliefs.”

I wish that people would stop passing off Bigotry and Ignorance as family values.
Intolerance is Blight on the face of Human Society. The Ignorance is not only that, but is Willfully Steadfast.
The Mantra of the “Family” or “moral values” Advocate is: “I Don’t Know, I Don’t Know That I Don’t Know; and I Don’t Want To Know.”
The standard-bearer of the “Moral Family Values” Movement is, of Course, as could be Expected; the Christian Church; the motto of which being: “Don’t Let The Facts Get In The Way Of Beliefs.”

For example:

Don’t let the FACT that Seventy-Five Percent of the human Genome is Identical to that of a Banana; Get in the way of the BELIEF that God created Human Beings First and in Her own Image.
Don’t let the FACT that a Zygote [or Embryo] is a Globular Mass of Random Disassociated Cells; which has No Characteristics that Designate it as Human [save its Genetics] or that Identify it as a Living Being; Indeed meeting Exactly None of the Scientific Biological Qualifications for Life; Get in the way of the BELIEF that it is an “unborn” Human Child.
Don’t let the FACT that Dinosaurs had More in Common with Birds than Reptiles; and that, at Nearly Every Relevant Level [save Physical Appearance] Humans and Great Apes Are Roughly Ninety-Eight Percent Identical; Get in the way of the BELIEF that Evolution Could Not Be True; and that there is No Way that Human Beings Developed from “Lower” or “Lesser” Primate Ancestors.

The “HEAR NONE; SEE NONE; SPEAK NONE” Movement that is currently drawing the most Ignorance Advocates is the push to Deny some people the most Basic Civil Rights accorded to others, Purely on the basis of the Preferences of Sexuality.
This is known by the Movement as: “The Protection Of American Family Values.”

First of all; the Dissemination of Bigotry being Labeled as “American Values” should be something approaching Blasphemy in a nation founded with the Following words:

“We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident, that All Men Are Created Equal. That they are Endowed by their Creator with Certain Inalienable Rights. That Among These are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness…”

Secondly, Legislating that a Marriage between One Man and One Woman; a Concept Found Originally Only in the Bible, should be Outlawed in a nation that holds to these words:
