Talk about a September Surprise. "Saturday Night Live" debuted a new Barack Obama less than two months before the November election on Saturday night.
Fred Armisen's long-standing Barack, in place since 2008, was replaced this weekend by Jay Pharoah.
Pharoah kicked off his debut skit with a hit at Romney.
"Before we start, Sasha and Malia go to bed. I do that to remind you that I have two adorable young daughters and not five creepy grown sons," Pharoah's Obama says to a Toledo, Ohio, rally.
He continues to explain that the Obama campaign has a secret weapon — Mitt Romney.
“I’m not worried. Not in the least. Should be. Seems like I would be. But I’m not. But I’ll tell you why. Our campaign has a secret weapon. Now I know I’m not perfect, I’m distant, I’m aloof, I’m overconfident. But wouldn’t you be overconfident if your only competition was this?”
The camera then pans to Jason Sudeikis as Mitt Romney mocking a gay serviceman.
