The very best #BindersFullofWomen on the Internet

By Jo Piazza / current.com / @jopiazza

On Tuesday night (and well into Wednesday morning), the Internet created an instant celebrity over Mitt Romney's "binders full of women" reference — as only the Internet can do. Here are some of the best things to emerge from the gaffe.

1. Mitt Romney’s “Burn Binder

Those deliciously evil betches over at Betches Love This got hold of Mitt’s Burn Binder where he mocks his fellow lady politicians. You do not even know what he said about Michelle Obama!

2. BindersFullofWomen Tumblr

This was really the primogenitur of the Binders Full of Women movement, featuring some of the best in user-generated binder content.

3. @RomneysBinder Twitter

As of this morning, the parody Twitter had just over 6,700 followers for Tweets, like:

What was the moment that Mitt lost the debate?

4. Binders Full of Women Facebook

The Facebook page already has more than 284,000 likes. https://www.facebook.com/romneybindersfullofwomen

5. Binder of Mistakes and Falsehoods

While less patently hilarious than the four previous iterations of the binder, academic Juan Cole has used the binder to catalog Romney’s lies and missteps.

Missed Cenk last night? He's back on "The Young Turks" tonight at 7E/4P!

    • Mitt Romney's intentions were honorable and genuine in the Binders Full of Women remark. However, this glimpse into his inner workings suggests a portrayal of an environment devoid of women in the upper ranks. I wonder whether he has other groups of individuals that are arranged in Binders, as well?

    • Ask Mitt if I can have some of those binders full of women when he is through with them!! :>) Seriously, listen to what he says about women, about the 47%. This is a man who has a very royal opinion of his station in life.

You really think he meant a binder full of women? What are you five. Anyone with a brain knows what he was talking about. When a owner wants to hire some one he might go to the file cabnit and pull out a folder of employees. Inside of the folder there will be resumes and job applications from people that turned them into the bussiness but were never hired because the bussiness couldnt afford or didn't need to hire anyone at the time. Only crazy left wingers are trying to bend what he said.

RCP is a self described right leaning site. They average tons of polls together, both left leaning and right, to come up with their results.

      HuffPo is left leaning.

These sources are wide ranging, and they ALL come back with the answer that Obama wins. It doesn't get more unbiased than this. You're in denial if you can't see that.

They're not super close, but they both come back with the same answer. They might change every day, but they've always come back with the same answer. Obama was much further ahead before Romney's post-debate bounce, but even with the bounce, all sources say Obama is winning, based on electoral college math. I recognize that your optimism is outweighing basic math right now, but that doesn't change reality.

Yet gallup just released today 52% for romney, up from yesterdays 51%. All the other polls are giving romney more and more percentage points. Your electorial map means nothing untill november 6. If you knew anything about the electorial college you would know they only vote after the ballots come in. The maps they've been using right know are forever changing. I find it funny how the polls are used on current to tell there viewers that obama is going to win when he is ahead yet once the polls tip in romneys favor this channel all of a sudden says they mean nothing. If you think the people of america are gonna let obama run us further down the drain then you are in denial. I just want to know what excuse this channel is gonna come up with as to how romney won.
" Note right away that this isn't a forecast of what will happen in November on Election Day; but rather a synthesis of available polling"
" That said, it is important to note that there is a lot more going on than just poll averaging"
Like how hiffington disclosed us on the last two statements.
On the other hand the RCP map hasn't been updated since the 9th.

I love how you quote national polling, as if that's how elections are determined. That would be relevant if we determined winners based on popular vote, but we don't. If you think the electoral map means nothing, then no polling means anything. Yes, the maps are constantly changing, but they also constantly give the same answer. Inconvenient, I know.

You were using national polling to say obama is going to win. Those electorial maps you were refering to are based on popular vote polling. The real map doesn't come out untill Nov. 6 after voting. Yet they come up with the same answer? Looks like Real Clear Politics updated its map today, Doesn't look good for Obama. Lately ,if you have been paying attention, the polls have romneys lead increasing and obamas decreasing little by little. Inconvenient trend huh.

I was not using national polling to say Obama would win. I was using state-by-state polling and electoral college math. You might want to educate yourself on the difference.

Look at the RCP map again. Look at the "No toss ups" map. Based on the most current polls state by state polling, i.e. the way the electoral college is determined, Obama is still winning.

I like your optimism though, it's refreshing.

I feel like i'm talking to first graders on this site. The map you are talking about uses national state by state polling to come up with the results for the map. The no toss ups map isn't accurate. It puts toss up states on one of the candidates sides. TOSS UP means it is to close to call the state in favor of one candidate or the other. Class is now over simpleburn, you may now go home to your mothers basement.

Thank you so much for your valuable lesson. Enlighten me... how do they determine who gets the electoral votes for the toss up states on the no toss up states map? Do they just flip a coin?

I love the constantly fluctuating relevance that you assign to polling. You pick and choose which polls are informative, and which ones are irrelevant, entirely depending on the convenience to the narrative you're trying to advance.

Ha. Your still looking at a no toss up map which shows you are only using information that proves your point. The toss up map uses poll averages that are within a margin of error that is as big as their polling gap. As long as the polls difference is as big as or smaller than the margin of error the the poll can't be accurately counted for any candidate. Its cute that you keep on trying to win this argument but your wrong. Keep believing in "change" because the American people are gonna change the president this year. I hope you don't cry to bad when Obama looses. But since you live in your moms basement still you won't be too far from a shoulder to cry on. So go to college get a political science degree and get back to me so I actually have someone to debate with that isn't talking out of their ars.

LOL... thanks for the "margin of error" explanation. That might be relevant if it was one poll for each state, but RCP uses many polling sources and averages them. When all the polls lean in the same direction, even if their individually within their margin of error, the answer is still pretty clear... as clear as polling predictions can be anyway.

I'm going to keep believing in hope and change, and you can keep believing in a pathologically lying windsock that contradicts himself weekly. Let me remind you about the primaries where Romney could never get more than 25% of the GOP's support. They spent months desperately trying to get excited over an alternative option, rallying around clowns like Bachmann and Cain and Perry... clamoring for a viable option that didn't include Mitt. Since they settled on Mitt, he's been trailing the ENTIRE time. He spends and spends and spends.. normally money is the chief determiner in these things, but for Mitt, it doesn't matter... still trailing. It took Mitt playing dirty tricks and etch-a-sketching himself into an entirely new platform to throw Obama off and have a horrible night at the first debate to get a bounce that even remotely started to arguably be a "lead". Even then it was a matter of a couple points in a few polls. That little flicker of success is all you've got, and it's already fading with two weeks left.

Keep on recycling that tired old basement cliche, like a Limbaugh muppet drone. Empty, but hardly surprising from someone who would still vote for that clown after the 47% video.

      http://youtu.be/eLjtrtQ7PTg

If you average the polls, you average the margin of errors. Einstein
There has been an enormous shift toward the GOP in the early voting numbers compared to the 2008 early voting numbers in Ohio. Democratic early voting is very much down across the board in every county in Ohio. Even in deep blue Cuyahoga county in northern Ohio, the early voting numbers are off 6% there. The GOP early voting is actually up as well across every county. However, the big falloff has been among Democratic early voting. In 2008, Democrats had a 13.88 point edge in early voting. In 2012, they have a 6.13 edge. That’s almost a 56% drop in Obama’s early voting advantage. If the early numbers can be used as a precursor to what the turnout of the electorate will be in Ohio, this is suggesting a D+2 electorate in Ohio and this looks to be the best case scenario regarding turnout for Obama. However, that enthusiasm edge and the impressive Romney ground game could push this turnout needle further right as Romney voters whom haven’t voted will turn out in force on Election Day. Remember, McCain won the Election Day vote in Ohio by 2.5 points but he got buried in the early voting. This D+2 projection of turnout would be very realistic considering what we saw in 2008 and 2010. Now back to Dave’s analysis as off today regarding Ohio which does factor in all of Romney’s independent support in Ohio. Here is what he shows using turnout models from 2004 to today. Looking at the average composite of all the recent polls documented at Real Clear Politics, here is what he came up with.
      O+2.17% – Current RCP Average
R+8.92% – Average using the 2004 turnout model
O+0.51% – Average using the 2008 turnout model
R+5.72% – Average using the 2010 turnout model
R+4.99% – Average using the 2012 registration model
R+2.84% – Average using the D+3 turnout model
If the early voting numbers are any indication of the electorate of D+2 which I think they can considered to be, I believe that Romney is up probably about 3.5-4 points right now in Ohio in the worst case scenario. But, it is up to the voters on the right to show up for Romney. I have no questions in my mind that they will. The only thing preventing Democrats from going into a full blown panic is these polls that are projecting a turnout that will not be within the realm of possibility of happening this election. Chin up buddy. Look at it this way the quality of life in america will improve after romney cleans up obamas mess.

I'll leave you with the words of Colin Powell. He's a decorated soldier, a patriot, and about as accomplished, experienced, knowledgeable, and credible as it gets. Oh yea, and a Republican.

      about Obama:
"When he took over, the country was in very very difficult straits. We were in the one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression. The fiscal system was collapsing. Wall Street was in chaos, we had 800,000 jobs lost in that first month of the Obama administration and unemployment peaked a few months later at 10 percent. So we were in real trouble. The auto industry was collapsing, the housing was start[ing] to collapse and we were in very difficult straits. And I saw over the next several years, stabilization come back in the financial community, housing is now starting to pick up after four years, it's starting to pick up. Consumer confidence is rising. Generally we've come out of the dive and we're starting to gain altitude. The unemployment rate is too high, people are still hurting in housing but I see that we're starting to rise up… the president got us out of one war, starting to get us out of a second war and did not get us into any new wars. And finally I think that the actions he has taken with respect to protecting us from terrorism have been very very solid. And so, I think we ought to keep on the track that we are on."

      about Romney:
"The governor who was saying things at the debate on Monday night ... was saying things that were quite different from what he said earlier. I'm not quite sure which Gov. Romney we would be getting with respect to foreign policy. One day he has a certain strong view about staying in Afghanistan but then on Monday night he agrees with the withdrawal, same thing in Iraq. On almost every issue that was discussed on Monday night, Governor Romney agreed with the President with some nuances. But this is quite a different set of foreign policy views than he had earlier in the campaign. And my concern ... is that sometimes I don't sense that he has thought through these issues as thoroughly as he should have.

As I listen to what his proposals are especially with respect to dealing with our most significant issue, the economy, it's essentially let's cut taxes and compensate for that with other things but that compensation does not cover all of the cuts intended or the new expenses associated with defense."

about the state of the GOP:
"I think I'm a Republican of a more moderate mold. That's something of a dying breed I'm sorry to say."

He is very accomplished. One of his accomplishments was getting the us into this war in Iraq. He made a speach in front of the UN accusing Iraq of having WMD's. So he IS in the same boat as Bush. The massive debt the US has accumilated from the recent wars is his fault to. He does know what he is talking about when it comes to foreign policy but as far as how to create jobs and fix the economy, not so much. I wonder what Powell thinks about how Obama handled the libya attack? Or what he think about the tax hikes obamacare is going to cause or the tax hikes on the people that make $250,000 or more(which is going to kill job creation).
Lets look at obamas other accomplishments
Increased America’s debt by 35%. Increased unemployment by 18%. Violated the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution by exerting federal government over state’s rights. Largest increase in federal government in history. Created a national health care system, modeled after the failing systems in Canada and Great Britain, and which creates nearly 100 new government agencies and programs. Made the federal government the monopoly agency for student loans.Made the federal government co-owner of various industries. Alienated one of the US closest allies –Israel. Refuse to defend US borders against illegal aliens. Violated the US Constitution by requiring every American to purchase health insurance. Openly embrace Muslims who have vowed to destroy America while at the same time pushing to remove more Christian rights from Americans. Established more socialist policies than any President in history. Removed more citizen’s rights than any President in history. Striving to make 15 million illegal aliens US citizens in time to vote in 2012.

Are you really staff of current? If you are, the new owners are more than likely gonna change the dirrection of the station. Read this little bit of info
Founded in 2005 by Al Gore, Current TV quickly made a name for itself as a go-to source for environmental incoherence, Democrat lunacy, and far-left diatribes. If providing an outlet for liberal kooks was the goal, it succeeded admirably. However, if it was trying to attract viewers, well, it's had some difficulty. Now, it's up for sale.
CEO Joel Hyatt recently told the New York Post that “Current has been approached many times by media companies interested in acquiring our company. This year alone, we have had three inquiries. As a consequence, we thought it might be useful to engage expertise to help us evaluate our strategic options.”
That's big-time TV exec speak that roughly translates as "We're getting ready to dump this turkey."
The network began its life by focusing on young, high school and college age, liberals. Predictably, its early crusade against global warming failed to attract eyeballs, so it began to reinvent itself as a standard, left-wing, talking head channel - packed with a host of zany pundits that even MSNBC had rejected.
Chief among these was Keith Olbermann who, after being fired from MSNBC due to his horrible personality, took his show "Countdown" to Current in 2011. There, he experienced the same kind of ego-driven controversies that have plagued him at every network in his career. The acquisition of Countdown was supposed to save the struggling net but, a few months after he started, Olbermann started to implode. He began insulting his bosses, famously referring to the station as "amateur hour," and was fired seven months ago.
Since then, Current has played host to a wide range of progressive nut jobs, with its most notable shows including such outstanding fare as “Joy Behar: Say Anything!,” “Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer,” and of course, "The War Room with Jennifer Granholm."
All of these programs boast ratings which are regularly dwarfed by those earned by Dukes of Hazzard reruns.
Current reaches approximately 60 million homes, earning 12 cents a month per cable subscriber, or a little more than $80 million a year. It generates a measly $16 million a year in advertising revenue.
