my answer: babies + pets.
if they are loud and annoying, it doesn't matter which of the two categories they fall into.

That's cool if you all are into animal slavery. I'm not judging. Although, Lauren, you almost got me with "little snuggle basket from heaven". Nicely played.

Rob, get a hamster. Melody, you have a fear of commitment.

Definitely worse not to like animals. Babies are annoying, but new parents who think everyone wants to coo over their babies are even more annoying! Last week I was sitting next to a baby on public transportation who kept kicking me. The mother didn't seem to think this was a problem, saying "she liiiiikes you!" in the most ridiculous sing-song voice. She then proceeded to sing "if you're happy and you know it clap your hands" for the last 20 minutes of my train ride. I just want to read my damn book, lady!
Also, until very recently, I shared a wall with a family who had a toddler. It was hell.

I gotta say... that has more to do with inconsiderate people than anything. I've had plenty of neighbor's with loud barking dogs and pet owners that don't apologize when their pet sobers and sniffs my food at the park.

True, those people are equally annoying for not socializing their animals. I like both babies and animals, as long as they're quiet!

As I said on FB. It depends on the animal. Babies rank somewhere between mapinguari and sloth. You can make assessments from there.

Animals are adorable and snuggly, and (cats at least) can be safely left for a weekend if you put out enough food and water.
Babies, on the other hand, cry loudly and are alarmingly fragile-looking. (Seriously, people, they look breakable! Does that not freak anyone else out?)

Babies. Especially if you are at prime breeding age. Make babies. You can always purchase an animal.

I'm with Lauren. And I'm calling 911 right now to report a potential psycho killer on the loose. Or, we can solve this in a far more diplomatic way. Tomorrow we bring a puppy, a kitten, and a baby to the office, and see what happens!

Pets don't generally excrete in the public pools,....and certainly small packs of them don't in shrieking yelping/mewling strident surges. Kind of clinches the competition for me.
