This boy is only 10 years old

MotherForTruth
DURHAM, NC (WTVD) -- In an investigation that's starting to draw comparisons to the Mary Kay Letourneau case, a Durham, North Carolina teacher has once again been arrested for allegedly making contact with a 10-year-old boy she's accused of having sex with.
A judge on Monday increased her bond to $2 million.
Gina Marie Watring, 40, was first charged back in April with the rape of a child, first-degree kidnapping, and felony child abduction.

    • "And yet, they are probably numerous people that would say, So what's the big deal? We live in an amoral society, where that those things we once considered evil we consider good, and those things which were once good are now considered evil. There is so much hypocrisy here, it's sad. Yes, I am disgusted by this, and was shocked that a 10 year old......?? What will this be like when he grows up? but the way things are going, in 5 or 10 years more years, we will have laws that protect this sort of perverse behavior. I think you can count on that."

      I don't see ANYBODY saying that. I don't hear ANYONE saying 'whatsa big deal". And I SERIOUSLY doubt there will ever be a law to protect child molesters and child abusers. SHAME ON YOU. Shame Shame Shame on you for posting such bile, you ought to be ASHAMED of yourself for putting out there this suggestion that that the country has turned in a new direction toward such lawlessness. I Dont Care who you think you are. SHAME!

    • kiltedandfree, you misunderstood my comment I will try to explain my point. When comes to crime men and women are not treated equally. Women are frequently viewed as victims even when they commit horrible crimes. As in this case, some people view this 40 year old woman as mentally ill who needs psychiatric help. My point is if the genders where reversed and it was a 40 year old men (instead of a 40 year old women) having sexual relations with a 10 year old girl (instead of in this case 10 year old boy) no one would comment about the man as mentally ill. He would be called abuser, rapist and pedophile. The media and many in our society do not want to view a woman as abuser, rapist and pedophile. Men and women commit crimes. Women abuse and kill their children but there is always some excuse for woman’s actions but not man’s. Media and our justice system downplay crimes committed by women with compassion and leniency but men are always demonized.

    • I agree that this woman seems to not understand that what she is doing is wrong. No matter what the court does, she continues to make contact with the boy. The article states the boy is 10, but I thought he was older than that. It really doesn't matter, if he is a minor, she is wrong, but one could "maybe" understand if the boy was 17 or 18 but at 10, he hasn't gone through puberty. Motherfortruth you said if a 40 year old man had relations with a 10 year old girl he would not get prison but he would get psychiatric care, I'm sure this teacher is getting some kind of psychiatric care but she has violated court rulings over and over again, this is why she is in prison, not because of the initial contact. If you remember she was admonished and told to never have contact, but she persisted. If a man, over 18 had contact with a 10 year old girl and had sexual relations it would be statutory rape which would mean jail time and possibly not any psychiatric care. This woman is a pedophile and should be exactly where she is.

      I understand what you are saying and even agree with you. It does appear that public loves to speculate about the case and be the judge without any knowledge of facts. In fact the media plays a big role in encouraging judgment without any knowledge of the case. Our law allows the media to prosecute someone and completely destroy a person with disregard to the "innocent until proven guilty". On the other hand, there is a growing gender inequality in our country. Men are consistently promoted by media and treated by law as violent, abusers, rapists, aggressors; and women are as victims, repressed gender, and innocent. The point of this post was to bring to light the reality.

      Nice side-string.

      Appearances and Numbers crumbling Wisdom.

      -------

      Character assassinations, our NOW more easily availed avenues for "progress" for self-service departments (contra to selfless dedication) of our NOW more caring, empathetic and compassionate "civil" communities.

      Rules of Law, NOW cleverly flawed.
      Constitution, NOW rendered as minor consternation.
      As for ethical rules, NOW merely ridiculed.

      Unfortunately, as with Liberty;
      To too tumbles a Dignity of humanity.

      Gee, and where be our famed and branded "defenders of Liberty" and "pursuers of Justice?"

      Oh ya, hands already bloodied from entitlement reaches into their cookie jar of our bled hearts, torn pockets and dowsed dreams of "children."

      As for loving parents of once honorable civil communities, NOW darkly bruised and battered by batteries of euphoric beaters that so eagerly slander, slather and slaughter "love" -- in the "name of love."

      Yes, oh YES, YES WE CAN further champion,
      Unconstitutional Deal Bent Bats,
      Deftly craft by Bureaucrats,
      For furthering the boppings,
      Of Loving poppas/parents,
      As engorged pinatas, tarred and feathered.

      So while the Politically Correct dirty laundry be NOW continually aired;
      The more egregious concerns now remain wrapped within the entitlement laundry of the now more enlightened MAFIA; so as to ever eventually bluntly apprise our more caring compassionate communities that we have yet again erred.

      Checks and balances of our honorable heritage have never been of such vital importance as the present.

      But, as we may NOW plainly see, time does indeed NOW present as the all too expensive calling card for many the travailed and heavy laden.

      Perhaps it truly is, the same as it ever was.

    • This woman doesn't seem to have a real good grasp on the fact that what she's doing is wrong.

      Having been arrested once, she resumes contact? Restitution or amends will need to be made for what she's done to the boys psyche. However, I don't think a long prison term is the answer - unless you just want to punish her. And I'm sure the court will do a good job with that.

      What she needs is a psychiatrist. This woman has lost track of what's important.

    • Adults have no business having sex with children. Perhaps 100 years ago and more, 13 and 14 year old children were getting married and starting families, and perhaps arguments could be made that with how much more "aware" or "advanced" or "grown up" 13 and 14 year old children are today they should be allowed to make sexual decisions of their own, but 10 years old is practically prepubescent.

      10 years old is too young by any stretch of the imagination.
