Former teacher’s aid pleads guilty to sex charges

Leslie Marie Troup, a 23 year old former teacher’s aide at Western Alamance High School in Elon, North Carolina, who was arrested in the summer of 2008 on over a dozen counts of sex and alcohol charges involving students has pleaded guilty to two felony counts of engaging in sexual activities with students.Under the plea deal with prosecutors, all remaining charges were dismissed.

Troup received a suspended sentence of 13 to 16 months and was placed on supervised probation for three years. She will be required to register as a sex offender, however she will not be required to participate in a sex offender program.

    • They probably don't have a program for women. I would have to say that the more plea deals I hear about the more I think they should not be offered.

      In my opinion it would not make any difference. Judges, prosecutions, and the public are eager to find excuse for women but not men. Men are almost always perceived as abusers and even when a men is a model citizen he still is perceived as potential abuser, potentially violent rapist. This is not the case for women. Women are perceived as truthful, nurturing, logical, efficient, and always a victim of something.

    • wow, another female sex offender who got "get out of jail" card. I hate repeating myself but how often have we seen male sex offender get suspended sentence and would not be required to participate in a sex offender program? I will guess never?
