@Uckfay - Why would Current lose potency because of addressing gay (read "human") rights violations? Do you know how many people are killed in the world just because of what they do "in their privacy"?
People always put their enemies into categories, that's how it goes. I don't think that dropping out some important issues would help.

I just wish to preserve the pure potency of current. If our enemies can put us in a category, they will! I for one, will be disgusted if they are able to write this entire site off as a gay rights community, which they will be more than happy to do, and they will! I personally don't care what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home. I JUST DON'T WANT THIS SITE TO LOSE ITS POTENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless you all and have a happy turkey day.

In response to Uckfay's response -- Current was made to represent all points of view including gay rights. The network and website have been doing that incredibly well and will continue to grow and do bigger and better things for all issues mentioned. The issue with your statement I have is that "gay rights" is not a small issue and is one that can define an election - just ask John Kerry, who many have said because we was so wish washy on the issue may have cost him the election. The bigger picture here is NOT gay rights; its equal human rights, being gay is just apart of who a person is, no one should be judged or denied equal rights because of that. So I think it belongs on whatever burner it needs to be on to effort a change in the way we do things around the world.

I think that the issues that we are addressing here on current are very important to our lives and indeed our entire species; issues such as: global warming, free speech, democracy, the ENVIRONMENT, etc. However, to keep the potency of current strong, I hope and pray that minor issues such as gay rights will be kept on the deep back burner until we take care of far far more important matters. I'm sure all support is appreciated though.
