Emergency Act
Opinionator:
The entertainment industry is contributing to the decline of the economy
and damaging the healthcare industry in Cailfornia.
There is already a shortage of medical personnel such as nurses, docotrs, emt etc.
In the recent years entertainment producers/casting is calling for real doctors, nurses, etc to
act in film and tv. To play nurses, they want real nurses or people with experience
in the medical field. (so not only actors have to pay for acting classes but in the
process spend non-existant money on medical school. They have found
another way to dangle the golden carrot in front of...)
This is an abomination and the entertainment industry is not looking at all sides.
1. It takes away more nurses, doctors etc from where they are needed
2. It takes away jobs from actors.
As the entertainment industry may know, acting is called acting for a reason
which is to play a part. It is good and fine to highlight medical people who
do courageous acts --through news, or special presentation, or consult
them on real events or as research.
They in the medical field already have jobs. There are thousands of unemployed actors
who can fill the acting jobs. Isn't part of the acting process rehearsals and learning?
This leads to lack of spending power for the unemployed while creating a shortage
in the medical field in California mainly and New York.
It is something to ponder about because this inefficiency may
lead to larger problems later.
(unless its all a ruse to lead creative individuals to learn & thrive in the medical
field and lead actors to other professions)
