Current teamed up with Common to give you the opportunity to direct your own music video with his track ‘Make My Day’ between September 14th and 28th, 2009.

From the many amazing videos, Common hand-picked his favorite, ‘Common’s Make My Day Music Video: Clip Art’, by Josh Milowe, Elizabeth Casal and Mike Potter, collectively known as Wealthy Pictures.

Check out the video below, and look for its on-air premiere Wednesday, November 4 at 11/10c during Embedded featuring Common.

Current is teaming up with Common to give you the opportunity to direct your own music video with his track ‘Make My Day’, so get creative and make a music video that really stands out.

Your Assignment

Make animation, shoot live action, or work with the video assets we provide you. All styles are welcome, just be sure to upload your final work no later than September 29th, 12:01am (PDT), and be sure you’re using footage that you own - or that we provided. Also, do not forget to fill out location release forms (if you shoot on location) and appearance release forms (for everyone who appears in your video).

Get Noticed / Payment:

Common will hand pick his favorite video, and it’ll be featured on current.com and on Common’s website: thinkcommon.com. If Current decides to air your submission on TV, we’ll pay you a cool $2,500 to acquire the rights to do so, and air it in on November 4th in a special program right before Common’s Embedded episode premiere. Also, we’ll possibly air your submission on Current’s programming on Virgin America flights.

Mandatories

• Step 1.Read the submission terms for the initiative, if you accept such submission terms then download the track, front slate graphics, and release forms to use in your video. You can work with the video assets we provide here, or, of course, shoot your own but be sure that you are using footage that you own.
• Step 2.Get to work. Animate, shoot live action, or re-edit the footage we’ve provided. Be scrappy, be original: Make Common’s Day.
• Step 3. Upload your music video to current.com/common before 11:59PM PST on September 28th, 2009. Your video may be delayed before appearing online during a quick approval process.

One Last Legal Note:

In order to clear your music video for broadcast, please ensure that you have the rights to all images and music for commercial purposes. Get appearance releases from everyone in your music video. Do not incorporate assets from other websites and "royalty-free" sites, or any 3rd-party logos. Remember be sure you’re using footage that you own - or that we provided. The last thing we want is for you to invest time on a great music video that we can’t show.
