Note to Editor: If this special is available, I'd like to buy a copy. This program needs to be seen by Americans who are aware of the sacrifice going on every day by our military, and especially needs to be seen by those who are oblivious to what others have gone through to secure our freedom. The presentations were far better than any segment the 6 o'clock news throws together. Actual soldiers telling their stories, talking about how they were and are affected - very powerful stuff.

Not having a segment or any mention of the soldiers who commit suicide as a result of fighting to protect our freedoms, was slightly disappointing. I understand that the show was intended to be a tribute to our military, but the fact that many of them are unable to cope with life after war won't be any easier for them by pretending that reality doesn't exist.
I think it's very possible that by acknowledging the suicide issue and including a segment where a soldier actually expressed those suicidal feelings... you would make it a hell of a lot easier for the men & women who were willing to die in a war to defend this country to reach out for help during a life threatening emotional crisis. And to me I think that's much more important than every other 'salute' you gave them. - 3 years ago
