Before one may answer such a question, one must first be provided with the judging criteria, backed by an objective assessment of the goals, story applicability to toward achieving those goals, and potential negative consequences. Since those are not readily available, it becomes likely that some individual, possibly misinformed, perhaps unaware of the existential impact, thought the story was "funny." Such a pity!
