Five-year-old raises enough money to feed 18,000 needy people

wow... really? is that your response to this? She is a 5 year old girl, who has every right to be innocent and hopeful for life. It is only when she grows up and meets jaded, pessimistic people like you that she will realize the world is shitty... thanks for reminding me to help more people so that i don't turn out like you too...

hey now. yes, what she's doing is good, but it makes sense to ask WHY 18,000 need to get fed, if 18,000 people get laid off, we know it's a jobs/economic problem, but when 18,000, and thousands more around the country people can't eat, it's an indicator of failure of society, individualistic responsibility, government, and family planning among other things. not to mention the unbalance of wealth, rich/poor - and mostly opportunities. main problem: OVERPOPULATION.

and she will not have to meet people "like" me, because Hollywood, nightly negative news, pop-culture, and MTV will screw her up royally.

am i pessimistic? perhaps i wouldn't be if people weren't so ignorant, under/un-educated, and selfish, especially in this country. perhaps i wouldn't be if we didn't cut down rain forests everyday and steal animal habitat, if we didn't slaughter millions of sharks for fin soup, if dumb religious people didn't fight over religion and look down on people - when in fact they are scum. ya, give me a call when we humans stop overpopulating, overkilling, overfishing, overraping eachother, this planet, and other animals. i'm waiting by the phone.

but yet it's vital to be a good educated citizen who helps others, i do, and it sounds like you do too, and you didn't have to get personal with, "don't end up like you", because we don't know eachother.

ok ok... i give and i agree with most of your points. AND will admit the personal attack on you was insensitive and my anger was poorly directed. As someone who wants this world to be a better place and trying to play my role in that process i hate hearing criticism against people trying to do theirs... but yes, yes you were addressing the larger issue at hand not the little girl. i get it.

i'd be a hypocrite if i said i have never done the same thing, we're human, and sometimes emotions/anger get the best of us, but what makes you an OUTSTANDING HUMAN AND CITIZEN, is that you apologized and and set pride and honor aside, too many people just can't do that. thanks and i accept, peace brother! and sometimes we all get too serious on these comment boards, and at times it's hard to get someone's drift, intention, and motive. it's all good!
