Jodi Opp, was walking OFF TRAIL with her dog Tas when she spied a lovely looking drinking spot for Tas to get refreshed.
Little did she know this detour would plunge her and Tas 30ft down a steep embankment at the Oneonta Falls in Oregon.
They were both rescued by rope and given a sharp slap on the wrists by a person in the know, who said, helpfully and probably a little bit smugly, that this wouldn't have happened had they stayed on the paths.
