College is like housing - there has been too much loose credit, so prices have been allowed to rise into bubble territory. People got thrown out of their homes because they could not afford them, and house prices will keep falling until they become reasonably affordable to responsible borrowers. Likewise, there has been too much credit flowing to the equivalent of 'unqualified buyers' in higher education, and a great many young people still need to be forced out before the price of a college education becomes reasonably affordable.
