About The Music Lounge - How to - Suggestions - Volunteers

Hi Currenteers!

This could turn out to be a lot of fun. We got off to a good start.
I started this story so we can discuss, and help the group be a success.
If anyone wishes to volunteer to curate/start off a Lounge this is the place to discuss it.

Tips

1. Post a story/Lounge about a genre, or artist, or subject.
It's better to have a story/post/Lounge about an artist/genre/topic and then each comment be a performance, than to post a story or Lounge for just one video. More people will see more material if it's one thread than if they have to find 10 stories to find a video.

2. Ask for help if you are unsure.

3. Try to only post stories / posts / Lounges, related to music. If people add political stories, and non music topics, the group will not thrive, and it won't be a music and video lounge.

Types of Lounges suggested.

Genre - The Punk Music and Video Lounge

Personal - Ziggy's or Mary's Music and Video Lounge

Artist - The Beatles Music and Video Lounge
Topical - Audiophile Music and Video Lounge

Sub-Genre - Classic Rock Music and Video Lounge

You can call it what you want, no need to include Music and video Lounge in the title.

Examples 50's Music Big Bands etc.

Curators/Volunteers
If you are a fan of, or know a lot about a type of music, and you want to pitch in, let's coordinate.

Resources
I have a lot of resources on the web and I have been building communities, and functionality interfaces for a long time. We can make this Group a very feature rich area of current.

Play Lists:

You can create Video Play Lists at YouTube and embed it here just like a video.

The Video player you see here in identical to the Play List Video player with 2 exceptions.
1. The Video Play List Player has a dark gray rectangle to the right of the "play" arrow,
Clicking the rectangle displays click-able thumbnail images, and the titles of the videos in the play list along the bottom of the display.

2. When you hover your mouse pointer over the video display area gray tabs appear at the left and right edges. These tabs when clicked will scroll to the next or previous video in the play list.

To make a Play List on YouTube you need an account. This link details how to embed a play List, and all the other ways you can use YouTube videos.

There are pluses, and minuses to play lists.

Minuses I can think of:
If you make it too long, people will only watch until they get bored, and or frustrated.
If you make a play list with every possible video from some artist other posters may feel put off. As videos are taken down from YouTube you develop holes in the play list.

On the plus side
You can present videos the way "you" want, in the order "you" think they best fit, or recreate "albums" in video format. You have more to work with if you want to. It's optional, you don't have to make play lists but you can if you want to. On certain types of posts, or Lounges they make more sense than single pieces, as in classical works with movements, and themed music where songs flow together, albums, and multiple video documentaries / movies.

The best part is you can do it, or not do it.

I'm a big fan of having options, having this type of Group on a site like current affords everyone the ability to do their own thing. You can hang out in a thread/story/lounge, and party / discuss and post music, or you can hop from genre to genre on your own, as you please and enjoy community curated Music Videos, and compilations.

Non Video music links, play lists, and eternal applications.

You may or may not have seen the music play lists scattered throughout some lounges. You can create these at web sites linked in the group page, my Lounge, and in the comments here. These are great for listening while you post, or do other things, Again they increase your options, and you can ignore them if you want only video.

External video search, and play list saving applications. Certain sites allow you to search for videos, and create play lists you can name, save, and load at a later time. These sites are linked in this thread as well, and on my lounge. They are real time savers, and the play lists are useful because you can keep them going in a window while you continue doing other things.

If we work together we will wind up with a valuable asset on current.

Let me know your thoughts.

Peace
