Morning stuff: Mitt's leaked comments to the 1% — explained to the 99%
By Jo Piazza / current.com / @jopiazza

Back in May, Mitt Romney courted a group of wealthy donors at the home of a private equity executive in Boca Raton, Fla.
His remarks to them were secretly filmed. In the video, Romney says that 47 percent of Americans believe they are entitled to help from the government and that those people are not his problem.
The leaked footage has caused an upheaval on the campaign trail in the past 24 hours. Here's what you need to know.
How did the video reach the press? BuzzFeed gives a timeline of the leak and the leaker's efforts to move the grainy video (see below) into the mainstream media, first through The Huffington Post and finally through Mother Jones.
Romney called a press conference in California last night at which he admitted that he spoke off the cuff at the fundraising event and that his views were not "elegantly stated."
And other conservatives fist-pumped his remarks.
So does Mitt Romney just hate all poor people? Cenk Uygur took on that question last night.
In his New York Times column today, David Brooks dubs the Republican candidate "Mitt Thurston Howell" and explains why he is out of touch with exactly who, in America, is using government services and benefits.
Bill Press explains how Mitt "optimizes the 1 percent."BuzzFeed also eloquently explains why politicians often say dumb things to rich people. The reality is that pandering to the wealthy has become a necessary part of the election cycle, and sometimes what the wealthy want to hear sounds absurd to the rest of us.
Politico examines the 47 percent that Mitt Romney mentioned in the video. Who are the Americans who don't pay income tax?
And at the end of the day will this video matter? Jennifer Granholm thinks it could be a game changer.

Is there any doubt that a Romney administration would favor the rich and increase the income gap in our country? Mitt is a pariah in Mormon Clothing and will stop at nothing to expand an empire of greed for the rich in this country by expanding tax cuts for the 1% of the wealthiest Americans. He’s out to gut the Middle Class for every red cent he can get. Will his sacred Mormon underwear grant him the protection and money to buy this election? See for yourself as Mitt dons his tighty-whities sent down from the Good Lord Himself at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/05/mitt-romneys-magic-mormon-underwear.h...
