As with the Presidential election itself, once again we teamed up with Twitter users from around the globe, so you could leave messages while watching our live coverage.

A collection of 140 character "tweets" tagged #current gave your view of the Inauguration. No voiceovers, no presenters telling you who was on stage and no commentary. It was the chance for you to share your feelings & thoughts to the world while watching history take place.
Your Tweets ranged from the teary & emotional to comments about Michelle Obama's dress & Aretha Franklin's headwear. From expectation & hope for the future to wondering exactly what was going through George Bush's head as he prepared to depart.
So many of you were twittering with Current, that the #current hashtag was the third top trending topic on Twitter yesterday. On a day when Twitter was literally fit to burst, that's an amazing achievement.
As one Twitter user said "Aren't big moments like these even better with social networks? Totally enjoyed the experience".
Media Week picked up on our coverage and said "Probably more TV companies are going to start to integrate popular social media applications into their programmes to build a sense of community. Big Brother and Twitter...maybe?"

We'd love to know what you thought and whether you were Tweeting along with us.

It was both exciting and engaging and we had a ball here in the Current UK office. There were squeals of excitement when we saw UK people's tweets making it on to TV!
A pat on the back for everyone!

I loved tweeting the Inauguration, it was great to see, as cheesy as it sounds, a proper global conversation happening right in front of me, and all over Obama's face.
This Media Week article thinks that, other media outlets are going to be embracing social media a lot more in the future.
