can't say it enough, shelter critters deserve love. I adopted a 14 year old pit bull mix years ago (really it was my now fiance who adopted her) and she lived to a healthy and happy 17. this article makes me hate people more than ever. should we euthanize old people who are unable to care for themselves? society wouldn't let us think of it, but we do it to dogs.

Lady valentine kitty. Penelope dog.
I love my shelter pets. My faimly operates the shelter for my county. Please adopt. When you do adopt consider that this is a living being and should be treated like a part of your family. Also know the importance of spaying and neutering. - 3 years ago

Anyone who didn't know this by now is dumb. ALL of my dogs are either rescues or adopted. I don't EVER plan on buying a dog. I think it is pointless and cruel. I've been to many shelters and let me tell you folks, especially those who are thinking of buying a pet, there are A LOT of good dogs/cats in those shelters.
Do them a favor and do society a favor... ADOPT.. don't buy.

Although I didn't find my best friend in a shelter, I did find her on the streets wandering around while she was a puppy. The goal at first was to simply clean her up, get her healthy and help find her a good home. But we figured we could do the job. She's now 8 years old and happy as can be!
I recommend anyone looking for a pet, look through shelters, the neighbor who found out that their precious Fluffy got knocked up, or, if you're brave enough, a dog off the street. There are just way too many animals ending up in the gas chamber when they could be in a loving home. It's truly heartbreaking.

Adopting from shelters have given me the most wonderful best friends you can possibly image.
These sweet souls have only love to give.
Please take a homeless pet into your home and give them love.
