Ahh That's Great, some Folks have other things to do, as do I, but I just wanted to start a new group where Folks can share a Gin and Tonic or maybe even a Beer and a Green Bowl of KindBud...
This group is a place to unwind and talk about any of the issues of the day and to relax amongst friends... Please be social and not biased here, for there are no right or wrong answers, just group discussion from all the angles of those who post here at Current...
Best Wishes and Please, No Punches below the Belt... =)

I did, took the dinghy across to the Waterfront in downtown Charlotte Amalie and had a wonderful lunch. Fresh yellowfin tuna seared quickly encrusted with sesame seeds and wasabi sauce, a seafood salad with mussels, crab meat, scallops, clams, lobster, conch and shrimp. With a few rum drinks. The wife had almost the same with a carafe of great sangria. Then we strolled back to the boat and came home.
I sat down, just for a minute to peruse the computer and got caught up in the search for the old Custom Craft Guitar and then got sidetracked with catching up on the Occupy movement.
I am so galvanized by this movement, it's hard to describe. I'm planning to take a trip soon just to participate and I can't get enough news about what's happening. I'm so glad this is happening in my lifetime, no matter how overdue. Oops, this may not be the forum for this.
Anyway, I had a great lunch today and look forward to a day of tennis and other sundry activities tomorrow. - 7 months ago

I told my husband he's smelling lions, tigers and bears, oh my.

Here is one of my hobbies that I 'should' be doing today. :) I love to go out and take photos. I live in such beautiful area, and when the fall colors hit this area, it is so wonderful. This is an amazing view, one that is only minutes from where I live. I get to see this often as it has a walking trail and I take my dog out and we walk.

This photo is of the blue ridge mountains, and the blue is real. . Trees put the "blue" in Blue Ridge, from the isoprene released into the atmosphere, thereby contributing to the characteristic haze on the mountains and their distinctive color.

I am not ready for snow. But the snow photo of yours is really pretty! I like that part of the snow! :) cheers!

After a week of power outages, which are still present in some places around here, I rode the bike to it's winter home in my friend's garage. It always seems that the weather gets better just before winter storage time. Last weekend was filled with falling trees, downed wires, and about 8 inches of snow. It was strange to see trees laden with snow that had leaves that were still green on the branches. Spending 72 hours without electricity reminds one of how much we take it for granted. All this happening at the end of October? This is NOT normal.

First snow of the season in my location. Pretty late in the year for it too.
First snow always feels sorta magic and is welcomed.
Hoping we don't get another winter like the last two though, where snow came and piled up all season, making for great difficulties getting around and VERY gloomy skies for months. Generally, we have drier winters with more sun than not. These old bones don't bounce as well as they used to when faced with ice and packed snow for months on end.
But the first snow is always special. Me 'n the dog caught some of the first flakes on our tongues. Tasty!

Thnx attila. The weather has been so weird the last couple of years it's hard not to be thankful for a fall like we've had here in 'O'. Normally, we haven't really had fall -- it's gone right from summer to winter, but this year we've had temps in the 70s pretty consistently since the end of Aug -- I've seen a lot of trees with red and rust-colored leaves this year, and I figured out why I hadn't seen them b4: winter came too early for those trees to turn colors :-(, so I am really enjoying all the pretty colors this year :-).

I normally love clouds, but the past two winters have been too dreary even for me. And no Chinook winds to eat the snow like we generally have. Just snow on snow on ice on snow until the place turned into a mud bog when it melted last spring. The ground was so well insulated that it never did freeze all winter. I had Brussels sprouts and spinach that survived all winter! It was a big surprise when the snow melted enough to see it all still green and sending up new leaves.

So this is just a place we can go to say 'hi' and talk about whatever is going on in our lives kinda place, right?I have to go get Mike from dialysis pretty soon -- for awhile he was taking himself which was really nice for me b/c it meant more time to myself :-), but that ended when he lost !2! car keys which is no small matter b/c the key has a computer chip in it and that means it costs damn near 1 c-note to replace. I hope the weekend finds everyone with a chance to relax and as we say in the Islands, 'Lime'.
I'm about to take my dinghy from the little island we live on, Water Island, and go to the big island of St. Thomas for a late lunch. We don't have to fight traffic, just watch out for seaplanes, and we'll tie up at the waterfront and walk to a little restaurant called Cafe Amalie-pronounced amal-e-ya. Cruzan Light Rum and Grapefruit Juice awaits.

Hi folks,
KB I think this group is a great idea. I'm not much of a joiner, but I've signed up for this one.
Sat. morning, bright and sunshiny here in Louisville. I'm trying to focus on that as my personal life leaves much to be desired at the moment. My spouse and I have split up after more than 30 years together. It's a tough row to hoe. Current is a God send as it allows me take my mind off things.
I'll not spend anything today either - save the cigarettes I'm about to run out of. Should have done that yesterday I guess.
Have a good day folks. Wishing all of you the best.

Welcome cabinettags, I know how much a separation, can eat away at the mind and wish you the Best, I am also pleased that you are using Current as a Place to not think of this situation....
I am not sure if you are aware of FSC... That is called a Fire Safe Cigarette, the cigarette makers have added three bands to the corporate cigarettes, that will make the cig go out if you are not smoking it... After finding out about this, I moved to rolling my own... The cigarette injector costs around $35.00's depending on which one you buy and I have found a bog of tobacco 8.oz's will last me up to a week and a Half... It is a big savings down the road and I do not have to smoke the bands that have been added to the papers on corporate cigarettes. Please Keep this info in mind the next time you spend $5.00's or more for a pack of cigarettes...
Have a good day cabinettags, hope to see you around... =)

Hey, thanks for putting this up! A terrific idea and it fills a need so very nicely.
So, my little thought bubble is this - I am glad tonight is the end of Daylight Savings Time. I cherish this extra hour more than most things, as sleep is a rare commodity. I wish that they would only do DST for May through September.
Have a great day, friends. I will not be purchasing anything today but a bottle of bourbon and getting my dog shampooed. I've been a credit union member since 1988, so not too much more I can do personally.

Tomorrow is November 5th and many folks plan on spending No money... Folks want to drive down the corporate monopoly, and I wonder how many folks really are going to stand by this cause by doing Nothing... Not buying Food from corporate Box Stores, Buy Gasoline for their Cars, or even pay their utility bills...
I know that all of those are taken care of on my side, but how about yours??? Can you make a day without spending a Dime??? Have you sincerely made the moves to not have to spend any money tomorrow or are you thinking of removing all your money from the Corporate Strangle Hold Banks and move your money to a Credit Union...
Maybe you plan on attending a day away with Family for the birthday party of a youngster??? Heh, just because it came to mind, perhaps you look to do some of that Community Service to keep you here and out of Jail??? I know someone in my Family that must...
I go out day to day and I do not find the political dysfunction so widely mentioned here, and as I have said before, I am much more Content away from a view of soo little I can help to change... I am as any other creature, Curious and Learning day by day, how about you??? =)

I am not going to spend any money, I was thinking of driving to a little bbq stand, local guy who has awesome bbq, but it is still up in the air on that decision.
I have already moved my money to a local credit union, so I have that out of the way.
I just noticed my 21 year old nephew posting a letter that is circulating on facebook regarding OWS, but the posters letter is so off the mark, and it is only being used by the misinformed, or paid shills? I found a reply that makes good sense, included it in their little comments section. Here is what my comment said ......."Just because corporations produce things we use and things we like, doesn't mean we should give them control over our political system or free reign to destroy the planet, exploit workers, and etc. It's not hypocritical to say corporations may have a place or a job in our society, but shouldn't have the power that they have. It's absurd to say that if you don't want to give up your iPhone, you have no right to question the role of corporations in our government and culture." I went on and added a few more sentences, but that says a good amount of what I feel. I am pretty down that he is choosing to side with the 1%, he was not reared in anything near the top (even 50%), much less the 1%. I suppose since he is enlisted in the military, just reached an officer status, that his mind is getting a good washing? I cannot see how he could be so off? I am getting old, this young man is smart (IQ at least) but obviously his insight is way off the mark. I just wonder what it will take to reel him back in.
Ok...enough of my pining. Oh, one of his friends chimed in with a comment calling us "jealous whiners" What the heck is that about? These are young kids mind you? It makes me appreciate the ones out there in all the OWS locations across the world right now.

I think it's probably safe to say his mind is getting a washing....but not sure good accurately describes that washing. LOL, keep up the good fight!

Thanks! I agree the word "good" is certainly not accurate. LOL I told his mom (my sister) recently, maybe this deployment to Afghanistan will open his eyes? Goes without saying, there could certainly be other ways to education oneself. But, it takes what it takes, and I just pray he comes home alive and still healthy.

Good Morning Queenofit, I too remember back when I didn't really care about politics, until I saw the SCOTUS give GW the POTUS seat... I never realized how the GOP was screwing the working people of this great country, and sadly, once I started paying attention, I found that the Democrats rarely have the Spine to fight for us either...
I never joined the military because I really don't like being told what to do or what to think, but that is just me... Some folks believe that they have the GI Grant to look forward to when their time has been served and worse yet I have heard too many stories of folks being denied that privilege for one reason or another... I know if I had served and been denied that Grant I would be a bit more than Pissed Off.... I would feel used and that my country never stood with me to begin with... I sure have high hopes for the troops BO has promised will be home for the Holidays cos being home for them does not pay the bills... Thank you for your comment here and have a great day... =)

I have quite a few of them I am praying will come home alive and healthy, and I think there is an excellent chance being in Afghanistan will open his eyes. I have so much respect for our young men and women serving in the military, and those who are serving in OWS. I love what they are made of....

Friday November 4th 2011
Not much to talk about, just another day, but I sure am glad it's Friday, can't wait to sleep in tomorrow... =) Sure seems slow around here tonight, not too many comments, there are some but as far as I can tell they are about every 5 to 10 minutes...
Best Wishes and Please No Punches below the Belt... =)

This is a good idea KB as things happen all the time that may not fit into the category of any group. Thanks for starting this.
