He is a very strong guy. If you know of his friends here please let them know. I am new here and don't know how that is done. I realize this is not a social sight... but it does mean a lot to him.... sorry to screw up the discourse!

This is the link to Treewolf39's Healing journey website. I have been posting your best wishes there for him, but we are also trying to put together fundraisers and a benefit concert for him so I am really busy. I know your encouragement and posts mean a lot to him and as a brain trauma patient it is good interaction. Thanks

    • Gabe will be moved to Sacred Heart "In Patient Rehab" in Eugene on Tuesday. He's ready now but has to wait for a bed to open up. This will be intense rehab for regaining all the daily activities that we all take so much for granted. He's walking better and remembering more and understanding what's happened. I 'm going to go and get his guitar and I think with some work it'll come back. His right hand needs the exercise and singing is really good for his throat and swallowing. I was with him till noon, but had to come to the coast to work and won't be able to be back till Sun PM. If anyone can go to see him, he really doesn't like to be left alone and starts to get discouraged. As he becomes more and more lucid and aware of what's happened and his current limitations, he really needs to be reminded of how far he's come and encouraged about his future. There are lots of activities and exercises for him to practice and just talking and hanging out is good. He doesn't like the TV and has watched the few movies that we brought in. He has an Ipod for music and it's still too hard to read much. They are letting him eat food from outside and he really appreciates it. (nothing too chewy or hard though) I brought some Indian food from Evergreen last night and he ate till he was stuffed. When he gets to Eugene, we'll have a better idea of how long they can keep him there and the longer the better at this stage. Thanks all for your love.

    • I am saddened to tears after reading this. Treewolf, you are a true spirit of the Earth and I have so enjoyed reading your posts here and participating here with you. Please know I am sending out the strongest possible positive vibes I can to you that you fully recover and will one day join us again when you are ready. Having friends and loved ones around you now is so crucial to your recovery. Take solace in the beauty of this Earth and her healing power. You are in my prayers.

Gabe is now totally disconnected to all the tubing! The feeding tube is still in because it still has to heal inside of his stomach but he's eating on his own ( it still has to be soft and smooth ), He walks to the bathroom (with help) and had a shower yesterday afternoon for the first time. He's doing really well with the physical therapy but he needs to be able to withstand 3 hrs a day, to move out of the hospital and to a place that will give him intense therapy for a week or so and then we'll see after that. He loves your messages and visits but we would like people to be sensitive to his schedule and if he's tired, reduce the stimulation. He usually has a PT session in the morning and again about 3 in the afternoon. Please sign the guest book because even though he will relate to you and be there in that moment, his short term memory is bad and will probably forget that you were there, so the notes to him are a way of reminding him.He still doesn't always know what happened that night and definitely is have lucid moments about it but he still needs to be reoriented often. He talked about going home quite a bit yesterday and we talked to him about the steps that he may have to take before he can go to his home up the river(and then had to say it all again several times because it was really on his mind so much and he would forget that we talked about it). He may need to go to a rehab place (and there are some that are especially for brain trauma patients) and then maybe he could go back to the coast and rent a place in town for awhile, where we all could take turns taking care of him. It's really important that he be able to be with Iris and close to all of his friends. This is all speculative and there are many possibilities of what might happen, but it's wonderful to have so many coming forward that love Gabe and the love is what will heal him the most and bring him home soon. Thank you all for your prayers, donations, visits, cards and positive healing thoughts for Gabe, and we're all excited about the music gig. I'll be back over tomorrow and will bring my laptop each time to read this page to him. God bless you all. Love, Ronna Donovan

Eeeesh, Please ask him to take his time and use all the rehab he has available to him... I too had a Brain Injury some years ago and I too was in a big hurry to get home... I found that was not the wisest idea... Hang in there treewolf39, we all wish you the Best... =)

    • On October 17th treewolf39 was less than 2 miles from his home when the near-fatal crash occurred up the river road. He was life flown to the trauma center w/ a fractured skull, broken neck, perforated liver and lung among other injuries. Because of the fantastic reaction of our vol. fire and rescue and trauma team he is doing very well considering what happened.
I am unaware if you know Gabe; however, he is a true example of unconditional love and kindness for all. He is a simple hippie who cares so much about the earth and the preservation of the land we all call home.
We have united to help our beautiful friend and brother while he continues his recovery keeping him in our thoughts and looking for a positive and complete recovery.
