Some people don't allow (and help) people to change...I consider them guilty of encouraging negative behavior. I've known those whose options and opportunities were extremely limited to where their recidivism could only be logically expected.

This guy is really a good man inside. He has turned his life around and hopefully will not turn down the wrong path again. The interesting thing about this Pod is that it is a white male. It is very common to hear a story like this in the black community (ex. all rappers), but to see this man actually doing something positive after doing so much negative is great. I think the introduction is great also. The shot of him sitting on the car, holding brass knuckles with Freddy Kruger knives is classic. Also the transitions of the city and him using the weapons from his store are great. I do think explaining how he ended up in jail and going into detail on how small information (jail time, living family (besides his wife), and his hard growing up conditions) would better show how this guy has turned his life around. Great job!

watching this pod. and knowing people that are gangsters. this guy is the real deal. he doesn''t lie, he tells it like it is.
everything he says is the truth from the jailhouse to looking for work when your out of jail is the truth.
he is also one of the lucky ones to make it out of prison and to own a business.

This pod was disturbing. I mean, I couldn''t stand the guy, but I also couldn''t stop watching. I guess that makes good TV. Six minutes is a long time to watch one guy talk.

What I took from this video is that sometimes all we really need is one person to believe in you, in this guys case it was his wife but it could be a parent, teacher, friend, etc.. I had a friend that every time he saw his wife she told him what a loser he is, so he could not hold a job and was kind of a bum but he met another girl and got divorced. This girl saw the good in him and told him so, now he owns his own construction business and bought a house. That proves he only thought he was a loser! I hope this guy in the film makes it, Thanks for the video.

I became interested in prison issues after completing my short documentary about six women with a loved one in prison. This pod covers a lot of different areas, mainly that prison generally doesn't prepare the released inmate to reenter society. One big problem is the former prisoner's inability to find legal work, so they resort back to criminal behavior. The young man in this piece interestingly enough becomes an entrepreneur, even though his choice of product is a little ironic.
Also, the fact that prejudice and separation of the races is heightened and more intense in prison, is an issue of concern. I wonder if this was an attitude that this subject took with him inside, or an attitude that endured when he was released. (evident from his belief that white people don't belong in prison)Overall, an interesting piece.
