I'm really glad you are one of the few people who uploaded something pertaining to the Armenian Genocide. Also I got see an interview with John Dolmayan from SOAD that I've never seen before.
Really interesting and good job. - 4 years ago

Great pod!
Turkey needs to recognize the Armenian genocide, leave Cyprus immediately, and cease their invasions of Iraqi Kurdistan.
How is this for a provocative question Fhay:
What is it about Turkishness and Turkish history that makes this nation so aggressive and nationalistic?

Thanks for your comment!! Almost all of my research in graduate school pertained to Cyprus. It's fascinating how the EU has made the withdrawal from Northern Cyprus and Armenian genocide recognition stipulations before being considered eligible for EU membership.
All the best,

Why do you think the Turkish government still denies the Armenian genocide to this day?

Fhay_A:
Hi Fhay!!
Thanks for asking!I think it's the same reason why the US doesn't properly acknowledge their treatment of the native Americans, the world turned a blind eye to Rwanda, and efforts to end the genocide in Darfur have not been successful as they should be--politics, politics, politics... :(
Also, Turkey does not particularly want to deal with a tarnished legacy. In fact, the level of denial is so deep, the Turkish government is sponsoring academic chairs in universities around the world to perpetuate the level of denial in history classes and research.
And finally, Article 301 in the Turkish penal code makes it a federal offense to insult Turkishness, punishable by law.
Article 301:
A person who publicly denigrates Turkishness, the Republic or the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, shall be punishable by imprisonment of between six months and three years.
A person who publicly denigrates the Government of the Republic of Turkey, the judicial institutions of the State, the military or security organizations shall be punishable by imprisonment of between six months and two years.
In cases where denigration of Turkishness is committed by a Turkish citizen in another country the punishment shall be increased by one third.
Expressions of thought intended to criticize shall not constitute a crime. All the best,
