    • This was a terrible event. I was so glad that that off duty officer ignored the "no guns allowed" sign posted at the mall making it yet another so called "gun free zone". The death toll could have easily doubled, quadrupled, etc if the bad guy had not been kept engaged & busy in a gun fight with the off duty officer during the 7 minutes it took for the Police to arrive & take the bad guy out (which is a very fast response time by the way, many cities average 8 to 10 minutes for Police to arrive on the scene of a 911 call). He truly is a hero who saved countless lives.
