Wow, wow, wow! I remember seeing this at Wired Nextfest in 2005. At the time my friends and I were like, "Wha?" because we couldn't understand how -- or why -- you would send a hug.
But now I have friends in every part of the US and world, and thanks to Facebook and Skype, I have their phone numbers. Technology can and should connect us, not isolate us! I can't imagine anything nobler than using technology to remind a friend or family member that they are loved.

Our chains of the future are almost always marketed to the youth as cool new must-have technology. I wonder who is funding this, and what those investors are also funding? Think about the potential application of such technology before being so quick to adopt it.
