    • I wonder if the managers have degrees. I haven't finished my degree yet, and I manage people who have better degrees than what I'm working on...

    • This pod was interesting. I knew Portland was a young-people's hot spot right now, but I wasn't aware of the job shortages problem. Addressing this issue by looking at degree-holding citizens who work at a grocery store was a creative way to address the problem.

      The camera work and introduction to the piece in the opening was creative and effective. I especially like the shot that walked the viewer up to the New Market bag and then into it while the VO told us we were going to look into New Market more.

      As the piece went on, however, the B-roll was more predictable and was usually limited to shots of the inside of the store. Also, the sound bytes, with the exception of the Psychology major who said she needed health care, weren't particularly compelling. I would have liked to have heard from more grocers with degree since that was supposed to be the piece's main character.

    • Great piece here. Would have loved to have seen more interviews with employees -- but still you really did a good job exploring the job scarcity in Portland, the youth-boomtown du jour.

    • i love it! i have a pretty good job here in portland, and i kinda keep wanting to quit and move on to something else, but the thought of looking for another job here with health benefits definitely makes me think twice.

    • Interesting pod. I didn't realize that hunting for a job in Portland was that intense. I was also surprised at how many applications they receive per week for positions!
