This is a travesty. If only news like this about the world were really addressed by our national news media, me along with the rest of the united states citizens could be more informed. Mass media in this country is a joke. We're not getting any of the information we need unless we dig for it on the internet or tune into Current TV. It's as if the citizens of the most powerful country in the world are the least informed. At least the U.S. didn't have anything to do with Myanmar's tragedy....as far as I know.

General Than Shwe has said he would meet with opposition leader Aung Sun Suu Kyi, but only if she "abandons her stances of confrontation, utter devastation, economic sanctions and imposition of all sanctions." Is that all?
Meanwhile arrests of people who participated in the demonstrations continue, internet access remains cut off, and the government is reporting having arrested about 2,100 people. Which is scary - that means it could be double, triple, who knows how many times more than that.
